Default What is your track day noise reading?

Just a quick survey of exhaust type and noise level recorded at a track day or similar? I am going to Castle Combe in a couple of weeks and I hear they are quite fussy about it. Don't want to go all the way there for nowt!

So....what was the db of your car???

This is an issue which is only going to get worse, I was talking to a couple of TDOs last year and both were saying there is a very high possibility that we might see a nation wide limit imposed, one mentioned 103dB (not too bad) and another mentioned 98dB.. which could cause problems.

Are there general garages that can test the dB reading? Say, MOT stations?

Would be interested to know.

Car was up on ramp today and I have had a look to see what it is. Looks like a standard downpipe with cat and then an Apexi aftermarket exhaust (already on the car when I got it). Car is a type R ver3.

I have arranged to borrow a noise meter so fingers crossed!

MOST circuits will do the test for you if you pop along on a race day of sorts....

Mine was 96db and then 97db @ static 4500 rpm both tested at castle combe last year thats with a magnex turbo back system (no cats) and is 2 1/2 inch diameter with the 6x4 oval tailpipe. Only running 270 bhp with a few mods. You could put one of those nasty silencers on that you can hire from castle combe to get the noise down if you need to (not sure how you'd attach it though).
