Default The price of newage scoobs

I have my car up for sale at present and have been looking on Pistonheads at the competition. Its a 2001 WRX bugeye 67k full service history etc etc, i was hoping to get about 6.5k for it but after looking on PH i havent got bloody chance!!

There are 2 V7 sti's on there for under 8k how the hell i can i compete with that.. I cant Is the market really that dead..?

2001 is the Bug Eye isn't it? Probably the least desirable of all the Impreza shapes. And it's a dead market.

2000 Classic can be had for £4500 and they are more desirable than a 2001 Bug Eye.

Market forces at work.

True market is quiet but as for buying a bugeye for 4.5k? hmmm I hope you have another 4.5k spare to repair it as there is no way you will find a nice bugeye for under 6k...

Well, thats very good news for me. I own one of the very last Classics and I know for a fact that they are sought after, especially one owner UK examples - maybe my Classic is worth around £7k then?

Very pleased indeed - I wish you good luck with your sale

On dealers forecourts they range from 6k to 9k obvioulsy depending on mileage etc...

And as for classics being more desirable, more desirable to who??...people looking for a classic?? Now i dont want to turn this in to a debate about classic Vs newage but lets face it no matter what model of scoob you are looking for theres literally hundreds to choose from.

Your car may be worth 7k to the right buyer. Just like a mint bugeye would be worth 8k...to someone that wants one. It all depends on the buyer & if we all liked the same cars it would be a boring world.

I too aint starting a classic vs bugeye thread as they are both great cars. I used to own a classic & I loved it. I honestly hated the bugeye when it came out but overtime I seem to have warmed to them & to my suprise I bought one! I think they are a lot of car for little money.

At the end of the day subaru's be it classic, bugeye, blob etc. Arent the greatest car ever made and I know my past and present scoob wont ever set the world on fire BUT I still love em both...

Good luck with the sale jay

Simply a matter of taste, but to me the Classic wins hands down.

I just sold my V7 STI that had some nice extras for £9600. Thats a bargain for whoever bought it, but I just had to sell due to trying to save some money and the spiralling fuel prices.

I had a quick peep on Autotrader and in a search local to my area your price isn't far out. I would say it should be up for 6 - 6.5
However if you get that and how long it will take to sell it is a different matter.
The cheaper Blob's become the harder it will get to shift bugs.
Nik.

OK, sorry - didn't know what Classic I had chosen ...... for a true comparison then and the colour is the same Pink Mica, so you can't say I'm cheating:-

To me, the Classic still wins.

OK, the wagons always look better ... but it's as fair as I could find!
