WR1 or 05STi PPP
friend at work is considering an 05STi PPP, but has seen a nice WR1, for a bit more.
whats the opinion on which is the best drive?
I guess the WR1 will hold a few more quid in the future.

It's a MY04 which don't handle as good as the MY05's.
He would be better of with a MY05 PPP in my opinion or better yet a JDM sti(jap sti) they come with a lot more then the uk cars.
HID headlights (xenons)
Rear wash wiper
Rear tinted glass
Red glow dials on the speedo
Engine:
Uprated engine internals good for 400bhp
Twin scroll turbo (which more or less eliminates turbo lag and makes the car a lot easier to drive.)
Equal length headers
Automatic intercooler water spray switch

I agree with Juggers. Get the 05 STi.
It wont hold the money as well, but it wont cost as much and for the difference you can make the 05 a far superior car.
Who like baby blue or whatever blue it is anyway?
</hides from wr1 owners>

I looked at a second hand WR1 before buying mine (05STI PPP).
Incidently, how much is the 05STI PPP he's looking at. Reason:
Thinking of selling mine.
05STI PPP in Blue.
Prodrive Spring Kit
Prodrive PFF7 Alloys in Gold with 235 Michelin Pilot Sport 2 Tyres.
Approx 27000 miles.
Might even throw in the original wheels & 3 month worn Bridgestone tyres.
Thinking of selling at £13,500.

The 05 PPP does not have the spec c suspension set up, it has the geometry set up, there is a slight difference there
Id also go for the 05 over the WR1, though the WR1 will probably hold its value slightly better (but not by much).
Dynamix, the JDM engine internals are good for considerably more than 400bhp, unlike its uk counterpart which is pushing its limits at 400

Stronger pistons, grooved nitrated crank to start with, 80% of the engine is different to its uk counterpart, the new sti has an even stronger engine than this

Both nice cars, would maybe sway towards the WR1 for me.
The MY05 may well be better handling but is it honestly THAT noticable to an "average" driver in everyday driving conditions? It may well be that it is, this is actually an honest question rather than a criticism.

I'd say get the MY05 aswell IIRC it has wider track, different struts) and uprated wheel bearing and hubs ( hence the PCD is 114.5)
I'd agree with that

If I sell it, I want to sell it fast. Hence what I think is a very good price.
Don't want to get to the point that I have to trade it in on a new car, as they'll rape me with the price. Trade price is at about £11k ATM.
All I have to do is get my private plate off it, and I'm good to go.

i would go for the 05 sti
they are cheaper and in my opinion a better spec
the wr1 as said was based on the 04 so why buy an over priced 04 with a new paint job and with the money spec it up and you would have more than 315bhp and a better handeling car anyway
plus come to resale time yes the wr1 may holod a higher price tag that is if the **** end does not fall out but imo (after selling my p1) people are stucjk in the same thought as you are why spend the extra on a car for a limited plaque number and a fancy paint job when i can buy the model it is based on for less and tune it to be better
all said and done if you were thinking of the wr1` then go for a 04 sti and tune it, or buy the 05 s it is a better base car

My personal view as regards to the performance and handling of a 04 wr1 and a 05 sti would be so slight that you would need a very good driver to exploit any of the advantages that it may or may not have.So in my opinion just buy the one that you like the most.JAY
