where do i legally stand on this purchase?
does anyone know what my position is on the following. i purchased some car parts from a large on-line retailer, they took my credit card details, and i have now received the items in the post. however, they have failed to debit the money off the card. i have received a vague 'text' electronic type land line phone call which just said...'there has been a problem with your order, can you contact us'. am i obliged to pay them for the items?, or is it their ***** up? on moral grounds, they are a big outfit, so i'm sure it will not dent their profits, or do any personal financial harm to any individual if i can get away without paying. what would you do??

On moral grounds, you received goods you should pay for them,if its on the other foot and you had been charged for items you did not receive, then im sure you would kick up a stink about it,big company or not its someone elses money.

By accepting the goods you entered into a contract. You have failed in your part of the contract by not paying(whoevers fault it ws). They could take you to court for the monies+their solicitors fees(more than the price of the bits).
And you had the bits so pay for them.

No, be a thieving pikey and keep them, and then come on here moaning when they send the collection agency after you for the parts you have stolen.
I'm sure if the company accidentally charged your card twice then you would be up in arms and ranting about how they are trying to rip you off ?
FFS man - just phone them, pay them and sort it out. Its not complicated, treat others as you would want to be treated.

Look into "Distance Selling Regs"... I think you'll find the goods are free to you good sir - unless they realise their error and charge the card details you provided

If they hadn't got in touch I'd have been inclined to keep quiet, after all if they don't want the money that is their problem. Trouble is they have noticed and at the moment are politely chasing you. Next step will be court and/or theft charge i would think. I'd pay up before it all goes Pete Tong.

Ring the card company and say it's a fraudulent transaction....
You know nothing....
DunxC
P.S. I think they know who you are and where to find you, but someone "dyslexified" your card details...

yep!, i'm in agreement with this, it's probably just a matter of time. But i've never known a company to send out a product without taking the funds for it first.
