Default Dump Valves.................

New to subaru, had many friends had them and i driven many fast ones and now i actually bought 1 for myself.

uk turbo 2000 currently tuned to 284bhp (scoobyclinics printout)
only thing is iv got abit of turbo lag and not changed the dump valve yet, was wondering which to get..

tempting to get hks sqv 2 for £230 or there abouts but wot exactly is difference between the hks and blitz and baileys??

I had a bailey on mine and a forge before that cos i liked
They do nothing however for turbo lag over and above the one which is already fitted to your engine. If you want the sound then go for it, if you want less lag then find another method

Please explain how it will 'help the lag'?

wow this site really is gud lol

ok at the risk of sounding like a complete turbo novice....

i thought if u get a dump valve it "dumps" excess gases when changing gears and balances pressures inside so that the turbo can spool up quicker.... no?

alot of ppl so far highly recommending the hks and blitz

There will be no benefits at your state of tune. All you`re doing is buying a whoosh noise.

And you'll make the more 'jerky' going on and off throttle.

1-3, 1 being loudest.

1- HKS/Blitz
2- Baileys
3- Forge

The thing with running a VTA dump valve is that is will make your car more jerky, you will use more fuel. If you want a louder noise get a Forge recirc valve and an induction kit/ARC induction box.

My car was not jerky any more with the vta than it was with the OE item. Pops, bangs and flames was what i got for my "chavvy" mod

Bet ya 50 quid if you re-fit the std diverter valve you will notice a remarked improvement in throttle response.

'Tis absolutely impossible for a Mass Airflow Sensor equipped car to perform any better when a VTA dumb valve is fitted,it will only succeed in providing duff information to the vehicles ecu when coming off throttle and will 100% for sure make it run more worserer

..sick of bluddy saying it infact:

So heres the challenge...

All you vta dumb valve addicts out there, refit the std valve for just one day and let us know how you get on with it

as above, i was bored one day and fitted a bailey and took it off an hour later as it drove crap and was to loud, with the old one back on it felt so much smoother and drove properly again

Don't have my Scoob anymore, but on more than one occasion i re-fitted the OE dv and apart from the lack of noise, i honestly didn't notice any difference. I certainly don't buy into the belief that there is an improvement with a vta, but i can say hand on heart that my car didn't suffer from having one fitted

I had a turbosmart supersonic on my old uk 98 turbo and that ran fine with ir on for 2 and a half years. Turbosmart ones are louder than all of the above items and if thats what you want it for go for turbosmart supersonic/megasonic. Also you can adjust the spring rate on them to suit any car.

How do you want to pay me? There will only be cost involved if I was to revert back to standard.

I can sort of see what you mean though.
