Default Can I get a 2003 STI for £10,000

Hi,

I'm new to the world of Imprezas. I have £10,000 and was hoping to buy a 2003 STI JDM in blue with 350bhp. Is this a realistic price?

For the last 15 years I have owned a black series 2 Escort RS turbo with 280bhp and torque to match. Weighing in at only 980kg, I was hoping an impreza with 350bhp would have a similar power to weight ratio, and the added benefit of 4x4!

I want a 2003 due to the adjustable centre diff. I Llike the sound of the impreza and love the deep blue. I've also considered Evo's (but they appear even more expensive) and Skyline GTR33s (but I really want 4 doors). Any ideas or help appreciated.

I think it was 05 onwards that got the dccd adjustable centre diff, and you won't get one for 10k unfortunately.

In the UK yes. The JDMs have it anyway.

OP: You could maybe get a high miler UK/EU car for that money. Add £1-2k more for a JDM.

There's a thread in here today about someone asking their cars value. 03 JDM too.

03 onwards in the jdm,
if you hold out, you might get one for 10k, its a buyers market, I reckon if you wait and search the usuall classifieds you will get lucky in a matter of weeks

Thanks for the fast responses everyone.

I'm in no rush to buy so will bide my time. I have more money if the right car comes along, as I'd like one with low mileage if possible.

Am I correct to presume that the JDM is a much better spec than UK. Is is OK to insure? 15yrs+ NCB, 35yrs, history of powerful cars.

Thanks

Shame the thread asking about price of 2003 JDM today is white. I've fallen for deep blue, especially with anthracite Prodrive alloys & carbon splitter. Reminds me of the GTR34

STI though, not WRX

You've got a couple of years on me I pay £650 with all mods declared, with A Plan.

If you've got the time, you'll get one. It is a buyers market.

Keep your eyes posted on here, pistonheads and the usual other places.

The JDM is slightly better spec'd. Rear wash wiper, DCCD, twin scroll turbo (spools quicker), nice gauges, higher rev limit and plenty of other things. Search and you'll see the 1000's of UK vs JDM threads.

If you've got a few more k's, you might want to see if a Spec C is your thing. Lightened, rawer, but ultimately more of a drivers car.

Sounds fun! Are they all originally from Lichfield?

Don't rule out a WRX - I was gonna go for an STi too but ended up with a WRX that was modded already and runs 290/290 - there is a premium on STis but someone who has already modded their WRX past the STi spec is not gonna be looking to recoup all those mods costs particularly when they come to sell - you never get that money back in the long run anyway!

I think he will need quite a few more k than 10k to pick up a proper and nice Spec C (MY03>).

OK, maybe £4k more. But if it's your bag, then that little extra investment would be worth it.
