In his post he says 3rd year. Only two more years until he leaves school then.

I don't normally like to set things off, 'specially as their board had a hammering recently from the RS boys, but this had to be brought to light, as it was so blatant.

....be nice, they're virgins!!!

Leave him alone you mean buggers. How many of you did "mods" to your cars when you were kids and thought you were kings of the road eh?

never, and I certainly wouldnt go online and make outrageous claims about my cars performance. They seem to think "performance" is BHP. Theyre not bothered about handling, brakes and general credibility, sorry but they deserve everything they get!!

This thread has been very amusing to read!! What has made it special for me, after hearing that my car is in fact a "bears vagina" is that his Corsa has a bloody Impreza bonnet scoop. TO55ER

What is GriffRhysJones's point, why would you bother.

Seems to be getting out of hand over there, they truly do believe the rubbish they are posting and as such I have no quarms about agreeing with those Subaru owners who post to the contrary. Maybe I had a mis-spent youth, but if I had a Corsa, no matter how modified, I wouldnt even contemplete taking on an Impreza.........

Im going to try and keep an eye on this one over Christmas, it may bring me some added Chrimbo cheer but I recckon I may have to dive in soon.

The bit that made me laugh was the bit about a Scooby looking like a Bears Vagina - how does he know what a bears vagina looks like ?

Now I do know what noddy's car looked like... very much like a corsa (modified or not)!!

Exclamation

One Sunday of each month these lot meet at the top of were I live at the Cheadle Royal Pub near John Lewis, this is near a new bypass which is turned into the Max Power shoot out track, all come equipped with Koni stickers dumb blonds, bubble jackets and base ball caps. There is one Nova there which is very very quick in the dry but still can not get the power down I have seen him try. These guys are dreamers who can not afford a decent Impreza or Mitsubishi EVO etc., but what they have spend on these Novas they could.

You lot are a bit harsh aren't you ?

I'm going to stick my neck out a bit here, but I think you could go faster than an Impreza (maybe not in all areas agreed, but given a very specific - eg accelerate from 60 - 100 in a straight line case) with a Corsa or anything else for that matter.

It (obviously) is not going to be a standard Corsa, but it's possible.

It would be very difficult to beat an Impreza in all areas, but in a specific area you could do it.

Maybe someone should challenge them to a track event ? thats what the RS boys have done

Everyone, no matter what they own, will claim "there's not much that can beat me off the lights".

Whether it's an H reg'd Skoda to the smallest, blandest thing you can find, people will tell you how great their car is. It's a toy thing.

My mother takes great pride in tearing away from lights, particularly when a BMW is involved. So do I, if I'm in the mood.

Corsa owners are entitled to their opinions, and if they want to drive at 120mph, fine, just please don't do it around me because the bonnet scoop that you sellotaped on may fly off...

Hand on heart, I'm a boy racer. I blame my mother wholeheartedly.

I'll get me puffa jacket...

It does seem that there's some hellishly snobbish people around occasionally. Let them have their fun, and try to remember what life was like before Seeing the One True Way

This isn't a pop at anyone in particular, as I'm guilty of mouthing off too. I find it helps to put yourself in the other person's shoes occasionally and remember it's a real person on the other side reading...

Wasn't supposed to be a preach, but it's turned into a rambling post...

Chiark,

I agree, I'm a selective Racer. If the conditions are appropriate, I'm in the mood and someone wants to play, then I will play. It's called Male competative Nature.

sith,
sod MCN what about FMN, ie; the female version. You should see SuzyQ when she drives the blackbeast, she's worse than me. I think she needs to get into motorsport quick! Oh, and anyone going to lakeside today beware! SuzyQ will be driving the blackbeast there, so please wave or flash, otherwise she'll get really upset!

Does anyone know who the scooby driver was?

I think we should all be a bit flattered, this guy is boasting about being able to keep up with a Scooby not a Ferrari or Lambo but a Scooby......This shows that we have something that people aspire to, I know I spent years try to get my hands on a Scooby and I called anybody who passed me in one all the names under the sun because I was jealous.

I know where this guy is coming from he may be mislead, uniformed but he's a car enthusiast just like the rest of us.

Some very valid points chaps, Chiark, Im as guilty as anyone.....

The reason I reckon they dont know what theyre talking about is they are comparing modified to standard and unless they know the guy in the 'reza was gunning it, theyre wrong.
For all we know the Impreza guy was probably on his way to pick his kids up, maybe had more than just himself in the car and thought, hey, what am I proving here. I have backed off and let RS Turbos hurtle past me and once I was lucky enough to see him get dragged out of the car by the police for speeding 1/2 mile down the road, I merryly burbled past and politely waved, you know the kind of wave??
Anyway, I think we also need to doubt these guys sense if theyre ragging brand new engines without running them in, how much reliablility is this guy expecting ??

Right thats all from me,

bye for now and keep yourselves amused

Thats a fair point.

I know of a mini thats got over 300bhp at the wheels! Its absolutely bonkers for acceleration upto about 90. It will not go in a straight line unless hes VERY lucky.

It would murder every car I have ever been in, but its not everyones cup of tea is it! Maybe John F may have a chance, at least he can go in straight lines!

We all know that scoobs start to struggle at higher speeds when the grip generated is well well over what is required (in a straight line ) so you are suffering unnecessary transmission losses. A FWD / RWD car will have lower losses, so will require lower power to stay level.

The scary guy for me was the one who stated that his chassis couldnt handle the power. Nice! I sure everyone is glad to know that, makes us all feel safer to be on the roads!
Wonder if he has told his insurance company that!?

You gotta ask yaself, do I feel lucky, well do ya?

Errr No, what I meant to say was you gotta ask yourself, if you have £7500 to spend, would you:

a) buy a Corsa circa £4k and spend £3k modding it?

or

b) buy a std WRX for the same money?

Nuff said.

Cool

I used to have an M reg Corsa SRi and despite what many of you may think of it that car would undoubtedly outperform my current MY00 turbo in a head to head!
Well until I turned the engine on in the scooby. Are they in need of help rather than ridicule?

Quick Reply: Corsa v Impreza Turbo???
