Hi, i;m also looking to buy an impreza and i also want to spend approx 9k to 10k.At the moment i drive a 95 mr2 gt i also have in the garage a mk1 mr2 supercharger, modded to 180bhp.I am after a uk 2000 turbo ,having had a good look round the autotrader it's looks as though it's going to be a 97-98 p or r.Now a question about milage ?Is it worth buying a car with 80k on the clock? Are they past it ? or should i really go for a 50 k car,i looking for a 1 or 2 owner full service history job.I really want a blue car or silver. Is there anything i should really go for or avoid?Does anyone know of a buyers guide on-line?Is a rac/aa inspection a must?any help much appreciated ,Ryan,p.s i want a saloon

Well i payed best part of £10k for a MY97 with 68k on the clock a few months back from a performance car dealer & wood say that u shud b able 2 find a decent car of not too bad milage & as long as u no how 2 spot a **** un then i shouldn't worry too much about milage as they r renouned 4 their long lives, er presuming it's been well cared 4 of course so the usual FSH goes without saying
There r numerous things 2 watch out 4, bad re-chips etc but i'm sure it won't take much time 2 find wot u seek so good luck chap.
Si

You need two magazines which you will find invaluable. They are the EVO Impreza buyer's guide (cannot remember what issue) and USED CAR BUYER (again cannot remember what issue). Send me your fax number and I'll fax them to you. Do not use the email address up there though! I've been researching buying an Impreza for months waiting to amass the cash for MY97.

Issue 28 Feb 2001. Do yourself a favour 'cos the mags have missed a number of things to look for - pay someone who really knows the cars before you part with cash. And I don't mean the AA man!
