hi, just a quick general question,

how many hours of garage labour do you think will be needed to do the following, as i'm having the work done tomorrow.

the car is a MY1999 .U.K with 4 pot brakes.
the work.......
replacement of front n back discs and pads,
replacement of brake line hoses front n back
replacement of brake fluid
fitment of anti lift kit


and are there any issues i should mention to the mechanic before hand? i.e, making sure that the hubs are cleaned up before fitting the discs.

Hi if i was to do it labour would be around£150.00 Plus parts if u want to supply your own parts thats ok.
I am in Manchester

 

2 1/2 hours for the discs and pads/lines
1/2 hour to do the anti lift kit

cheers. (just so i've got an idea of what i should be charged). the work being done is by a local garage in my home town of cardiff. As it is a non specialist car garage, can anyone think of any issues i should mention to the mechanic before the work is done? is there anything worth checking out on the calipers/pistons whilst the work is being done? and is it possible to get rid of some of the brake pedal movement (car - MY1999 u.k).

i'm not sure but i thought you needed the geo doing after fitting an anti lift kit or am i wrong

 

yep! that is true, though i have not figured out where yet. how much does that usually cost??

 

depends 100 to 150 i would say someone will be along from wales to recommend a good one before too long i would think

 

cheers mate. i've just actually found a place that has come recommended in the past on here. will i need to give them any info on the camber and caster settings?? (he says getting way out of his depth now!) if so where do i get that type of info from?

 

this is way out of my depth to be honest mate, if its a good garage reccomended on here chances are they'll know.
go into the suspension forum and post in there the same question, i've found a few guys in there very clued up on all this, 911 is a very helpful guy who knows his stuff

 

I make it a little longer, but much longer with alignment which is required long term, although the car will drive without.

Front discs and pads 0.8
Rear discs and pads 0.8
Lines all round 1
Replace fluid and bleed 0.5
ALK 0.8

Then add alignment at about 1-3 hours depending on what's to be done.
