Wink To Mr BMW X5 at the lights .......

.... sorry that this old codger embarrassed you in front of your Chavette

I thought X5's were quicker than that - I've seen Unigate Milkfloats faster

Hope you didn't need to out-brake him as well - your 60,000 mile brake pads might have given up the ghost the first time you actually needed them

I love it when certain 4x4 owners think their vehicles are fast and handle like cars.

It's usually those that end up in a ditch upside down.

Problem is monocouq 4x4's like the X5, Cayenne (sp?) and a few others do actually handle as well as most cars and the high end models have some serious poke!

I wouldn't want to go up against a Cayenne S... 510 BHP and 0-60 in 5.2... Might not be as quick off the lights as some scoobs but you can bet its got some serious poke later on!

They are still overweight and don't handle (or stop) anywhere near that of a comparable car though

For example...a 530SE will whoop a X5 3.0 with ease. And uses less fuel in the process....plus it cheaper to buy

If one want to spend £40K on a Cayenne Turbo S, just look at what kind of car one can buy for that money. We're not talking ten a penny chavved up scoobies here.

Well I had a bit of fun with a Caynan Big off roader thing.

I was in the outside lane on the Motorway waiting for the car in front to overtake and move back to the middle lane.

Mr Porsche came up behind me about 2 foot off my boot. He then starts weaving from left to right on my bottie.

I felt he was saying "Out of my way scum I am marching on Poland."

When the car in front moved over, dropped it into 4th, gone.

He was absolutely wrong footed. I let him catch me up and kept on accelerating away from him, nothing he could do.

He even flashed his lights at me as I waved to him bye bye.

When I came to my junction, his passenger a lady was wee weeing herself & Mr Porsche Barge Driver drove past in the outside lane looking at the central reservation (something must have caught his eye I guess).

Regards

Alan MaC

I would have thought the layer of dust would have caught fire first!

I can just see the post on the X5 board now

Title - "Even old ***** think they are boy racers in their chav charriots"

just dropping the cleaner home as she is not too well, pulled up at the lights at the same time as an odd looking old chap in a scoob, he starts gesticulating at me and getting very agitated pointing at my car and proceeds to rev his rice rocket, you could hardly hear or see anything except the sound of the silly dump valve and aftermarket halfrauds exhaust (large/round enough to sleep a rotweiler) and the glow from the rows of glowing lights stuck to his dash dazzled me.

It appeared old boy chavvy wanted to race.

I let him rev up ready for launch and just let him squeal away like a butt out of hell.

He had some youngish looking oriental woman with him who kept holding up a sign saying "suck-sucky for five dollars mister"

How odd, glad to see the back of the cabbage smelling tarmac tit of a terrorist.

here's the other side of that story then lewis!

Oh the irony. It seems that every chav'd up scooby on the road seems to want to 'try it on' with my M5.

Let's try not to cast too many aspersions, eh?

I think it was a 4.6 thingy and he was trying his level best to beat me

The lights are on an incline and the dual lanes come into one about 200 Yards up the hill ...... I always love it when the lights turn red and I can line-up against some contender.

It's the one and only time and place I allow myself to rewind back 60 years to when I was 19!!
