Widely debated accident. Was it a set up for a road safety campaign is the often asked question

Having had the misfortune of driving in portugal - its not that surprising. Note the main airbags didn't deploy???

If memory serves, I recall Audi tried to sue the local police force that organised the crash.

Audi were citing that an Audi would not be destoried like that, and that their cars are much safer then depicted.

I seem to remember Audi saying that the set up would effect their sales by thousands of pounds, hence the ad companige was pulled.

I first saw the stills in 2001...definately a genuine accident...front airbags didn't deploy as it was a sideways impact....after that I doubt anything was working!
