Buying advice..
Hi,
Looking to swap my truck before christmas for a WRX.. looking for around a MY04.. poss a wagon, but a saloon is looking more likely due to availablility..
I had a classic upto a couple of years ago.. are the cars pretty similar ?? Any common faults or anything that I should be aware of ?
Is it worth holding out for a PPP or are the gains not that noticeable ?
Thanks, Alex..

A new-age will be more refined, but less involving. Depends how you like it.
There are no known faults on an 04 as far as I know, just check for the usual signs of abuse.
It is worth finding one with PPP. It cost £1600, but shouldn't cost more than £1k extra on a used car.
If you can stretch to an 05 model (as above), they have a few improvements to the interior and suspension and drive better, but have a common fault with the rear suspension so you will need to listen out for a knocking at the rear.

As said above , the newage will be more refined than your old classic , it's worth holding out for a PPP example because if you don't you'll forever be wondering 'what if ?'. There are plenty of examples around out there so no need to rush into the wrong car for you . You might find the wagon a little noisier than the saloon with the PPP backbox giving it a nice burble , but the wagon is quite versitile with the seats down
