Can you modify a Scooby to beat a Yamaha R1?

I'm in the market for a new car and want to get something that I can modify fairly easily to out-perform a bike. My first stage is to be able to beat the R1 on a wet track, and I reckon the 02-06 WRX STI with Prodrive would probably be pretty close anyway?

Then its being able to beat it on the track, which will involve a little spend.

Finally I want to be able to beat it in a straight line 0-60 and/or 1/4 mile.

Is this impossible? The R1 does 0-16 in around 3s and does the 1/4 mile in around 10s.

What sort of BHP is possible with these cars?

Would I be better with some sort of Sport Quattro or Skyline?

not sure tbh, but i know a scoob that can beat one in the dry off the mark and top end

Why??? In the wet you should but anyone riding a bike at that sort of speed on a wet track will still win in the end because its just a lot cooler.

geta a track car running 550bhp and stripped out and your gonna be able to have it straight line, off the lights and round the twisties

Aye, the Ariel Atom seems to be a popular suggestion! My idea is that I'd like to beat him in a family car.

I'm pretty sure the Audi Quattro Sport S1 would beat the R1 to 60 but then is it really a "car"? Its more of a mental machine.

The track we'd race is Knockhill which doesn't have many straights, so maybe I should stick to beating him on a track as with a Scooby, presumably I'd nail him in the corners.

Maybe my real question is, what car should I get?!

Scoobies seem to be well known for high power and the ability to make them super-car chasers cheaply and easily. Fair point???...

dpepnds how much you wanna spend, throw 20-30 grand at one and you'll get that sort of performance

If you do the mods you'll need to get the type of performance required you'll be left with something far removed from a family car.

Virgin Cup - Teenagers riding Yamaha R6's - 53.6 so just over half a second behind

British Superbikes (bike equivalent of BTCC) 48.4 @ just over 94mph so huge difference

If the R1 does 0-60 in 3s, surely I'll only need to get the car from 0-60 in 4s in order to beat it in a track situation, as I'll cane it in the corners? If the standard STI with Prodrive can do it in 4.5, I can't be that far off???...

Afraid you will be that far off. power to weight, your not going to get it. To get basic power BHp yes, but for the finer added small amounts you need. talking large amounts of cash and removal of some items to reduce weight.
Why do you want this anyway. Have someone you don't like who owns an R1.
Remember this, and these are professionals. Good luck, and if he falls don't drive over him.

I'm a bike rider and i had an 04 CBR600rr (until some tit took me out) and my 04 STI PPP is no way near as fast off the mark, the twisties are another story, to be honest mate most drivers will **** all over bikers on country roads mainly because 75% of riders are incompetent and in-expearienced who go straight out and buy the fastest bike they can which with how cheap bikes are these days is something mega fast i'm by no way an expearienced biker but some of the things i've seen done by bikers is ridiculous , which is why we get a bad rep and why i've gave them up and because i carn't trust car drivers while i'm on a bike anymore.

2.35 with Garret gt 30/40R at 1.8 bar boost

not a chance m8 . majority of litre superbikes with moderate tuning will do 0 - 60 in sub 3 secs normally round the 2.7 sec / mark , and cover standing quarters in 10 seconds .
now putting that into perspective £5-7 grand r1
or spunk say 50 / 60 grand like totb winner rocket ron on a skyline and you might come close {but you would still lose }

dont no why im bothering really , it dont take a genius its called power to weight ratio .
and before you go there , check out the litre bike forums , theres peeps on there with stock motors in there r1,s with just the addition of a small bottle of nitrous running 8 second quarters !!!!!!!!!! my point again is it will allways be cheaper and easyier to get a bike to beat a car .

So you're looking at 900bhp, hmmm and about £30k+

get a skyline with an OSG 3.0 conversion and go for 1000bhp.

I think the bike will kill the Subaru. I ride a Vtr1000 Honda which is only just over 100bhp and have not had any trouble beating any car whether it be off the mark, rolling or top end. In the wet and on the twistys all depends on the driver/rider a good driver in the car will beat a bad rider on the bike and vice versa. As said my Vtr is not the fastest thing or the newest on the road but i have had the pleasure of riding an 06 Fireblade in standard form which would be similar in performance to an R1 of the same age and can say that i dont think there is a car on the road that would stay with this machine. If you then throw a few mods at it say exhaust and power commander your talking over 200bhp in something that weights around 175kgs. To get a car anywhere near this type of performance would be big $$$$$$$$$

yea and your only be 2 seconds a quarter slower than a 2 grand 98 r1 with £400 quids worth of nitrous on it , sweeeeeeeeeeeet .

As most have said power to weight you lost in a scoob

I went to and air strip two cars race each other and have to go round a cone 1/5 mile and back. a Suzuki 1000cc out of six runs, only beat a car once. I takes a *** good rider to get low standing start times, either fishtailing or popping wheelies IMHO

yet a numptie in a car could get low times a piece of cake
