Subaru's Rally Chances With The New Shape
Wonder if the new shape Impreza will help Solberg do better next year. Citroen & Ford are cleaning up?
Anyone seen next years Rally Car & do you think it can help improve Subaru's performances?
Regards.

I was thinking about this the other day.
I think it will take a while but they will get there but you can rule out next year. They are using last years car for at least half the year i believe.
The new car will have to be pretty good to beat the Focus, Citroen took a year out to develop the C4 and it lost out in the end to the Focus so that tells you what a strong package they have.
I think this is the biggest change SWRT has had to undertake with their WRC entry so i can imagine there will be alot of trial and error before they get it right but at least David Richards and David Lapworth are back in charge since the F1 programme has failed. That should help alot!
Cant wait to see SWRT winning again, its terrible watching Petter struggle and its killing his career.

Hopefully the new shape will get Subaru more competitive in WRC, the new rear suspension layout should help for a start

I was thinking it would help myself. I dont actually think the outgoing impreza is worse than the previous one in terms of handling and performance, its just that the competition has moved forward when Subaru have stood still in terms of car development. Yes there have been more driver errors, but i think its due to the drivers having to push harded to keep up with smaller more nimble cars.
Truth is though, only time will tell!!

Not sure how you 'go figure' that at all, the Subaru's are running to the same rules and can make the same changes as Ford and Citoren can, so they can use the DW rear or the mac strut prototype allowed by the rules, they can move the engine the same amount, they can have the same freedom on front end cooling etc....the fact that Prodrive did a rubbish job over the last three years has got nothing to do with the rules, but a lot to do with the way they did it (front end castor angle being a classic!) as well as taking an age to get to grips with passive diffs, in the first year changing the settings just about every event.

And if not, oughtn't they to have to rally what they MAKE?

Dont expect to see it until half way though the season as this time they are spending time delvoping the car not like the Hawkeye.
And in answer to your question yes it will as it has a longer wheel base and is also wider, there is less overhang over the rear as well.

i think they need to look back at past years and see what ideas they can get from the mechanical side of the MC2002-MC2004. remember the MC2003 was the car that took solberg to victory with the drivers championship.
In the new car there has to be some simalarities from the blobeye models to even stand of being competetive.
