Default Had an accident last night any advice?

Hi,

Had an accident last night.
Driving along a 30mph road in the wet and dark all of a sudden felt a bump next thing my car was pivoted to the right.

Span across the road hit a lamp post head on
It all happened in an instant not fully sure what exactly caused it.

Traffic police turned up (GMP) who were very helpful suspect I’ve hit something in the road or clipped the kerb on the island in the middle of the road.

There is a chuck missing out of my alloy!

First time not sure what my next steps should be.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Insured with A-Plan

Total loss?

T-cut and a wee bit of elbow grease.

Looks like a total loss claim and disallowed NCD, I'm afraid.

Personally, Id only consider repairing it if I was offered the salvage at an (extremely) attractive price...

Good to see you're alright.

Salvage any mods and put some time into a new vehicle - get something different and enjoy the change.

Damn, sorry to see that mate, compared to your's, I walked away with my incident (hit the front wheel into an island).

As above, get everything you can off the car and then get yourself something new - at least you were alright and thankfully didn't involve anyone else.

Btw were you in Milton Keynes yesterday by any chance? Saw a car similar to your's drive past me

Sorry mate, looks like a write off from that pic! But apparences can be deceiving. You'll know soon enough.

At least you and the GF are ok; that's the main thing! Cars can always be replaced!

All the best for getting this sorted!

Looks like a total loss i'd say... Sorry..!!!

For future reference, when air bags go off, they create a sort of smoke, it's basically a small explosion that then fills the bag with the exhaust from said explosion... and as the bag deflates, the 'smoke' comes out... making you think there's a fire somewhere.... it's very common for people to think that........

ouch, glad your ok though.

think the write off or not will depend on if the engine needs rebuilding and prob on if the chassi is bent. the front end can be pulled out and repaired no probs, problem comes is if the rad has been forced back into the timing belt casusing it to break/slip and basicly make the engine implode.

wait and see is the best bet.

Did you crash in the middle of manchester on sat night??

I rolled my scooby 1month back, all walked away fine and the car has done what it was ment to do, front and rear end crumpled and the cap was 95% ok, Am just waiting for my insurance check to come through the post, as the car is now a CAT B, so i cant even buy it back to strip,

But now i have another scooby so was only out of one for 3wks,

At the end of the day a car is a car, at least you all walked away!!!

i was on my into manchester...going out for dinner.

it happened on middleton road A567 the crossing with meade hill road..

yup the car did well didnt feel a thing air bags worked a treat.

The roof has rippled but nothing hit the roof shows how the energy of the crash was sent all around the car.

i had a few braces fitted under the front of the car which i think helped hold it all together.

am just gald nobody was hurt.

Sorry to hear about your accident, but glad to hear you're ok.
I think the question is, would you want the car back?
Personally, I wouldn't, once a car is bent, it is very difficult (or should I say expensive) to put right again.

Whatever you decide, think long and hard about it. (if you're head allows you to thnk at the mo )
