Default R Reg WRX with a blown engine ... How Much?

as it says on the Tin.

How much would you pay for a classic scooby that has just blown it's engine, i have an engine & gearbox ready to drop in, but what would you pay for one nowadays as classics are cheap anyway?

Cheers
Chris.

Less than £2k I would think. All depends on the condition of the car, maybe £3k if it's a really good one???

i thought that as they are going on flea bay for betweek 1500 and 3k so one without a lump should be cheap enough.

just not too sure what to offer the guy.

I wouldn't believe Ebay too much. People want massive amounts of money for rubbish! There again, some mint cars are only receiving low bids - all seems a bit crazy/random.

I'd look at what the car'd be worth once the engine has been swapped. Then work backwards to find the maximum amount you'd offer.

One other thing (two actually), does the car have a 'blown' engine fitted as that would allow the owner to go for an exchange engine and do they know that you have one ready to go in (I'd hope not )?

r plate wrx should be the 98 model?

276bhp/big maf etc etc

to be honest i would price a nice clean standard car up at 4500/5000k myself so half that for the cost of a rebuild IMO

He knows that i have a donor engine to drop into it as i was up front with him. I said that i wasn't looking to spend big as i had a spare engine which i was looking to put into a car with a blown engine, but i could wait for the right one to come along.

Were haggling at the moment.

it's red, but i wont let that put me off

Look at my scooby.

Not the best pick but i paid £1500 for it with a blown block.

And it had the full leathers already in it.
