scooby vs Evo
#1
A friend and I were once again in a friendly discussion about the impressive world of automobiles. This time it was the Scooby versus the Evo(both the old shapes). Both agreed the Evo has more power but I'm confident the scooby is far better in giving a smile everytime you drive it. It's supposed to be a more rewarding drive. Anybody driven both cars and has something to ad to this.
Gives the scooby more pleasure and allround grip.
Who say it does?

I'll give a short version
"It is faster"
"No it's not"
"You suck"
"Yo mama"
"Compare like with like: you really should compare the Evo with the STi, not with the UK/EUro spec model"

O.K
I have read this board for 3 years and never bothered to post. I can honestly say that over the last year I have never read so much cr@p in my life. Why do I come back? I guess that once in while you come across a good thread like Bob's big end bearing faliure or Birdy's bike show pics
I owned an impreza for 3 years, drove many others and reckon I can tell you which is more fun, but it's all been said before. I would NEVER buy another scooby just like a scooby owner would NEVER buy an Escort RS Turbo, you just move on to better things.
Flame wars are not my thing, if you want to drive an evo then mail me and we will sort it out. Don't listen to the cr@p that will follow this reply. Do what I did...Drive one and make your own mind up.
The dark side is calling you........
Regards.

Did someone mention the Dark Side? Is there a Rebel outpost we missed some where? Will be despatching Lord Vader to check it out.
And while I'm here, the Evo is insignificant next to the Power of my Star Destroyer.
P. (Calling all muppets, calling all muppets, not that I'm one of course).

I test drove both variants which were available at the time, evo5 and sti5.
If i'd waited six months till the the evo6 came out the result might have been different, but i love the scoob to bits
and funnily enough in bits is where mine seems to spend most of its life getting stuff bolted on

For some reason it reminded me of the Tortoise & Hare story or the Duracell advert

Here's what I thought. In this article I also took the trouble of explaining what "better" means and apart from being a completely redundant non-specific term .. when you get to a certain level of accomplishment with decent performnace cars, that there is no BETTER, only different.
Its just not as simple as what is the best or what is the fastest. You have to explore your own requirements, tastes, needs, abilities etc.. and also what type of cars you've come from or are used to.
EVO6 vs. P1:

Surely there has been enough of these threads now to set up an extra BBS with the Evo vs Scooby debate.
Use the search function (when its working) and you will see lots and lots of answers but until you try them both, what's the point in making an opinion.

Thanks, all of ya
Didn't ment to start all of this.
Just in Belgium we are new at this, we don't have Evo's and there are more new shapes than old ones because almost nobody knows about scoobys so I was interested to get the opinion of people driven those Evo's.
Will use search when it's working again to read up about this discussion.
Thanks a newbe, Crazy
By the way, drive myself a MY00 4dr (probably one of the few)

i was saying the sti5 typeR and P1 are better, yes BETTER, cars than the evo4 i drove. The wrx93 i had was close to the evo, and certainly not any slower.

driven 3 x evo 1 (1gsr, 1 rs and 1 mildly modded), mildly modded evo2, evo 5, UK Scoob 4dr97
1 evo 1 was a real disappointment. must have had a problem
the RS was very quick but had bald tyres so a bit scary
the modded (just air filter, exhaust, strut braces etc.) was quick also
The 5 was quick but more refined, and slightly longer gears might have disguised speed a little. Soft ride also compared to the one below.
The 2 was the best. Lighter and the mods gave it about 25% more torque than standard (mainly breathing, ignition and suspension mods). Absolutely zero turbo lag, stunning throttle response, steering response like a kart. Never been in a car anywhere near as responsive. Should I upgrade to the 4 (my fave) I shall endeavour to go down the same mod route.
The UK impreza was pretty impressive actually for its power, but steering and throttle response were obviously behind evo (it was UK spec). Would like to try a more powerful one just to see how it responds but forever on the other side now.

Have driven both a lot.
The Evo 7 is a monster, incredible cornering in the dry, scorchingly fast. What a lot of people miss is that it also runs on a road cut Yokohama S tyre - almost a cheater. Needless to say, and any honest owner will agree, wet perf is sacrificed. Still a marvellous car if hard and fast all the time is what you do (along with well practised fill-ups ).
STI 7 runs less aggressive rubber (could be read as: safer), more comfortable sus settings and on a circuit will suffer - but on joe public roads the thing is very nice indeed, with a great balance of stiffness and bump absorbtion IMHO (unless you are after a soft squeegee ride). The thing is darn quick in its own right, is a more natural "feeling" car too, IMHO (the gizmos on the Evo are good, but you can tell they are there).
The decision is quite personal in the end I feel, but the bang for buck factor seems to have swung dramatically in recent times.
Enjoy'em both, for their different strengths (just trying to do my bit for the EC economy )

scoobynutta555,
My Evo 4 Is Better than Your P1 ...WHY?,Because I Own IT
Its the same old story,my car is better than yours ,,etcetc
I had a scoob, and have been in many others ,love em to bits, but now i have a Evo and i love that too!.
My old subaru was quick(they are all quick!)but i dont think it would have gone round corners as fast as my evo can.The subaru would have the top speed stakes, but i think the Evo would have it on the corners.(these are both standard cars).
Its like two of my friends have Skylinesne R34 580 bhp and one R33,450bhp.These cars are very quick and dangerously fast but as they both admit, my car can leave them on a series of bends, only for them to catch me on the straights.
The ending story is that, your car is better than everyone elses.Thats because you own it
I wont be posting on this thread again, because its been done to death and its always the same outcome,(evos are better;...only joking.......
