WRX STI 2008.. Too many options..
I have been looking around for a WRX STI 2008 model. I am trying to find the most economical way of getting one.
So far I have 3 choices :-
1. Get a jap import from someone like litchfield
2. Get a EURO import
3. Get a UK car from a UK dealer
However I am told the specs are much different between the models. Some have bbs tyres, some have Recaro seats, some have a sat nav. Some even have no alarm fitted as standard!. I am quite confiused.
Could some one please give me some advice on which one to go for ?
Also I am having problems getting a full spec & price for the UK car.
Thanks

I don't think the 2008 UK car is out until next September; so I doubt that any dealers are in a position to give you a price, or full spec's yet. If you want one soon, it'd have to be a JDM car I think.
Rule of thumb generally is that a jap import is better specced from a mechanical point of view, although unlikely to have an alarm fitted as standard - Litchfields (or any other reputable importer) tends to fit things like these once the car is landed in the UK. The Japanese cars have the EJ20, where the UK cars will have the EJ25. From what I've read, UK cars will be lower on power than the JDM cars, but will have a bit more torque lower down the rev range.
I'm not sure whats happening with the gearbox in the UK? I'm sure I read somewhere that the UK cars are getting the normal 6 speed, with the all singing all dancing Si-drive not being available until later.. but don't hold me to that!
Problem is that much of the spec for the UK STI is going to be subject to change other than it having the 2.5 rather than the 2.0 engine.
Hope that helps a little
