Default buying scooby

hi guys iv just joined this great site very infomative and good bunch.I almost have my hands on a 02 jap import sti type RA,brought it for anoyher test drive today, couldnt resist and noticed a very distinct noise at about 4250 to 4500 rpm very high intensity and high pitched any ideas what it is and anything else to look out for when buying ,ps the guy im buying its standerd but thinks it might have been flashed he recons 300bhp would this be fairly accurate any help would be great thanks all

maybe the dumb valve that is making the noise, 300 sounds about right, just get a scooby specialist to check the car before committing with cash

cheers but car not fitted with dump valve it could be rattle from dash its a weird high pitched buzz,
thanks anyway

Mate, if its Turbo charged it has a Dump valve, sits between the turbo outlet and the throttle body. Just not one that makes a silly noise!... well actually in this case it does
