LEAVING SUBARU AGAIN!!
Well the time has come to say fairwell to the STi, and the wife is getting rid of the Forester again.
4 years ago I did this and went to Land rover Disco 2 V8 and a 110 300 TDi. At that time it felt like such a mistake. So much so I bought an STi and a Forester Turbo for the wife.
Well its time again.
This time Disco 3 TDV6 HSE and a 90 TD5 to play with.
This time I cant say I regret the decision.
The car and the following has changed.
Something 4 years ago I could'nt have dreamed of saying.
Maybe I am growing up?

I think that maybe what it is, never thought I would be excited by a Land Rover after my last try. Got to admit that after being in the Disco 3 it really feels right. It just feels special, which unfortunately my Subaru doesnt anymore. Plus I like playing in mud.

Heheh I would have a disco 3 over my scooby any day.. bit rich for my blood. But my second motor is an ex MOD series III 109" Great fun in the mud, and fairly unstopable
Best of both worlds me, nice scooby, nice landy!

I live about 100 yards from the kids school........................
Its over some very serious terrain though.
There is a slight hill, a very bumpy road and lots of curbs near the school.
Nearly forgot all the very slippy leaves.
All the other parents need them aswell as the roads are that bad and the village is that large.(too far to walk like me)

I agree, I had a cossie and left feeling the same.
My first classic although only a UK Turbo felt far more special than my STi. But thats the change over the years.

I've been without a Subaru for 4 months and in that time I've tested an S4, S3, Lancia Delta EVO (top of the list!) and next week I'm looking at EVOs 5-7 and a wildcard 944 S2 turbo.
However, the only car I know I want without needing to drive it is a P1

I'm getting the same itch again. I've had this car over a year now and I get fed up with filling with optimax when 90% of my journeys are under 50 mph in congested traffic. I'm revamping my sj413 right now and will get another gt tdi Golf quite soon I think. Although my car is ultra reliable and the fastest impreza I've owned it's time for something else for now. I also think there's much less of a 'community spirit' around the marque as there was a few years ago.

Have to admit, that I left Subaru for the same reason. Had two classics that were modded, and always felt special in them. Well, up until the end. The car has changed - in some ways for the better, in some other ways, for the worse.
The following, whilst still a great bunch (the reason why I still come on Scoobynet and go to meets, despite being an "outsider" ), have changed too.
The last few months of Scooby ownership lost that "edge" - started seeing far too many of them for the wrong reasons, if you know what I mean. And to be honest, I didn't want to be associated with it.
I also ended up with a VERY big (well, growing at the time!) Labrador, and Subaru didn't do an STI as a Wagon.
I started looking at other marques - ended up looking at an Audi S4 Avant. Saw it, drove it, bought it on the spot.
I've now had it for about 18 months, with no intention of changing. I have only seen 2 others in all of my travels, and 2 RS4s...... They are quite rare (or unpopular!!! )
The internet following is nowhere near as large as Subaru, and the mods/etc aren't as wide and varied.
The owners seems to be a totally different breed too - probably a lot older!!
All in all, very happy. The Subaru experience is something that EVERY petrolhead must do. Even if you move on afterwards, you'll always have some fabulous memories. I know I do.

Well I've been without for just over 3 months now. I got rid of the 54 Sti PPP at the time as I didn't have a job and I missed it like hell for a few weeks. A new job and an 07 Honda Civic 2.2 Turbo Diesel later and I don't think I'd ever go back to one, though I'd love to have one for the odd Saturday. I never noticed it at the time but there's too many older (and cheaper) versions being driven by spotty faced cap wearing chavs driving like tw*ts.
I miss having the power when I need it, I miss the burble, the cornering ability, the rattles and everything else posted on the thread. I don't miss the insurance, running costs and the obligatory tracker. I definitely don't miss filling her up every week and watching the bank balance slip away.
Bollox I've turned into a 41yo boring old fart who spends all his driving time looking at the trip computer making sure I average over 40 mpg. I've even set the speed alarm to kick in at 90 (not that it's ever been needed officer ! )
