Default Prodrive demo cars?

I have recently purchased a P1 and notice that the first registered owner was prodrive, does anyone have any information regarding demo cars or for what reason they would have it?

Yeah, these were often the test cars they used to hammer the sh*t out of trying out bits and bobs to see if they could break them and just how bluddy fast they could get the motor from 0-60 and 0-100 and back to 0 again. Any old boy was chucked the car if they were doing a trip that would add a few miles - there was usually a log book on board to record the good, the bad and the utter disasters. Good luck - I'm afraid you might need it, but then again I've always driven the socks of my motors and they seem to thrive on me sticking 150,000 miles on in 3 years so sometimes a well used motor is actually a hell of a lot better than the low mileage, never been track-dayed, motors that seem to fetch higher prices.

I'd not touch a demo car myself... especially if it's done press launches - got invited to the launch of the Skoda Octavia VRs when that came out in '05, went out to Spain, drove round mountain roads I wasn't familiar with and thrashed the **** off it. If it's not yours, you abuse it. Simple as that, really.

The engine is as tight as a ducks **** and the interior is as new, it doesnt show any signs of the normal demo vehicle wear and tear. Might email Prodrive and see if they have any history on it.

Would have been well serviced I suppose... but have to agree likely to have been driven to it's limits on many an occasion.

Nothing wrong with it being well used, just concerned if it has been abused. Prodrive may still have its internal log book but i'm not sure they'd share it with you - it might be too revealing!

If you're happy with the car, just enjoy it . . . safely!

TBH

I don't think Prodrive would have sold it unless it was in Top condition and probably no expence spared to put it in that order.

Doesn't mean it was a "test" car IIRC they wern't "Numbered" might just meant was owned as a "Company" car so just enjoy

Prodrive Customer service is second to none, they are not a backstreet garage

IMHO

Tony

The fact is even with a brand new car you dont know its history so dont worry about it cos you will send yourself to an early grave.

Put it this way i have mates bringing all types and makes off the boats and into the compounds, ive heard all the stories.

New m3's driven on the rev limiter until they warm up sufficiently to unleash there full power (temp limited rpm).

And thats not even mentioning the ones that are fixed before they appear at the dealers ( doors bonnets wings etc etc) .lol.

Take them on there merits and dont think of the past. A bit like women really (everyone likes to think theres is a virgin) haha

ive got the white p1 that was used as the test car, also got all the prodrive test books from millbrook, mira etc.had it a while now and not had any problems at all, obviously it has had some hammer at some point, but i dont think they would drive it to destruction, prodrives not some back street garage known for selling cars that are about knackered,i assume when it left there it was 100% right.plus its got a lot of history with it being a one off, theres cuttings from every car mag with my car in,autocar, auto express, evo, etc.nice to own a car that nobody else in the worlds got.not bragging but just saying there is an upside to owning a test car, exclusivity.plus its got all the prodrive upgrades,ie alcon brakes, gas discharge driving lights, prodrive recaro interior, and a few other extras like intercooler water spray, diff control(although this is disconnected)

My Forester can be seen in EVO issue 3 as it was THE UK press launch car for the s-turbo, so it had most the options you would want (still has the mats and boot liner) and at 90+k miles its still tight as a drum.

Read up, Prodrive sold it as new.
Got the first look at the Subaru database today after searching its history, very handy tool. Seems its only warrenty claim was clutch due to judder.

Steve I assume you nought it from Listers Worcester my mate PX'd it for his present Car WR1

Mik Wood and Simin Lines were very helpful helping out with Subaru UK and aquiring a replacement spoiler IIRC

Since when has telling the truth on this forum resulted in posts marked as "UNWANTED"?

I'd like the tw*ts who throw their weight around in this way to publicly state who they are - or are you just chicken sh*t?

Never had any problems with my old car the white P1 either. Tony was kinda right, i was the only one in our family to ever own the car by brother steve had my old turbo off me so i could buy the white one P1, about a year ago i px'd it at Listers who had previously sold me the car against a WR1. Another Steve (not my bro) now owns the car and i gotta say it looks really mint now. I saw it the other week in Carnforth and it looked stunning some real elbow grease gone into that, nice one steve, and then last week i saw it again well the asre end of it and by the way it look off from the round about it's still going well too.
So id say enjoy your car and dont worry .
