Standard MY95 WRX is running 260 as standard
(MY94 was 240)
So those mid 90s WRXs you see about that have had some of those obvious first owner mods - exhaust - induction kit - dumpvalve (no power gain) etc ....
Are often running 275-285 ish. As a crude rule of thumb.
Not 310 as often claimed by over optimistic owners

Bear in mind the japanese V Euro test standard difference as well, a JDM 240bhp wagon (so same turbo as UK turbo and a slightly higher CR) will usually make 215bhp (same as the later UK turbo's) when tested to european test standards.

Just buy any Impreza off Ebay - according to all the sellers on there, they are ALWAYS running 300+ even if the only mod is an air filter
You also need to factor in engine wear - the book BHP figures are for brand new engines ( and are a bit optimistic a lot of the time ) - add 50K to the mileage and the car probably wont be running what it did when it was new.
Only real way to tell is to get it on a rolling road - but some of these differ quite a lot for the same cars, so that isnt definitive.
Real anwser is - is it fast enough for you ?
