Was driving through a village yesterday, obeying the 30 limit as its narrow roads and houses straight onto the road, lots of kids about etc... when a B reg rust bucket Escort raced past me in the wrong lane.

Despite not putting my foot down, he left me for dead and shot off into the distance in a cloud of smoke.

Fxxx me - these Escort 1.3 populars are fast ! Going to have to rethink my choice of car now

Yes, they also tend to use a smoke screen to stop you following anyway. I'm not too sure but I think that they had some special device to inject oil into the engine and hence produce clouds of blue smoke as they tear past you. Very frightening. I hope you are okay.

It wasnt so much the being overtaken by an inferior car that caused me distress, it was the 10 year out of date jungle music banging out of the car meant I couldnt hear Radio 4 properly.

FFS, he changed gear and didnt even have a dump valve !
