Default Cancelling Insurance, is it worth it?

i am 23 with 1 yr NCD, i am payin 1800 a year insurance on a my99 uk turbo. i have 6 months left to go and have got a quote from a different insurer for £1000, would it be worth cancelling my insurance and go with these or wait the 6 month to get another years no claims?

i would think it would be worth changing, am i right in thinking you've got 900 left to pay on your current insurance? for a 100 quid more your sort of getting 6 months free, plus your repayments would come down. have you tried putting in your details with 2y no claims to see what sort of quote you'd get in 6 months after your current insurance expires, did that make any sense

Check to see if your policy has any penalty clause and, if it has, calculate if you will be saving any money.

In my experience, you will get F all back.
I would definately contact the insurance company before making that decision.

I tried that once (before i worked in insurance) and ended up getting a letter threatening court action as they had hit me with cancellation charges.

I was 4 months into a policy, had paid a 25% deposit and my 3 monthly installments, but they still charged me an extra £150 to cancel.

I'd keep the policy, its another 6 months OK, but its another years no claims. Cancel it, you lose the 6 months you've already paid for.

You might get an even better quote come renewal time from this other place because you've got that extra year.

Cheers

Matt
