Default What mileage would put you off ?

I'm looking for a 2003 sti ppp but for some reason anything with over 30k on the clock really puts me off i don't know why, there is one on pistonheads at the minute, a 2003 with 33k on the clock but because it's over 30k i'm really sceptical, just wondering if i'm the only person like this and what would others considered high mileage even though it's not when purchasing an impreza

I think the average mileage is around 12,000- 13,000 per year so anything around or under that would be ok. Anything over average would probably put me off

Well 12k is average miles per year so it should be on 48k, count it as a blessing as long as all the servicing has been done

Mines on 46K and still going strong. Service history and condition are way more important than Mileage

yeah suppose it is in my head a little it's just that i've seen cars wih really low miles for about the same price, before i had the cash ready and thats why i want one with low miles but like said if it's got FSH and is looked after it shouldn't really be a problem.

i've just bought a 52 plater with 49k, didn't bother me in the slightest. I'm weary of cars over 60-70k when buying, but as said you should concentrate more on the service history and condition of the car than the mileage

Pretty much agree with all the above. Bought
my 03 with 49k, made sure the dealer did the 50k
service prior to sale tho My car runs
brilliantly with no issues, all the dealer stamps are there
which should be the main peace of mind for you.
No. of owners is important to me, if it's had 5 owners
in 5 years - its had its a.rse ragged most of the time I'd say !!
Go with your gut instinct, it's alot of money

Depends on the car. IMO

I think if its plastered with Rally stickers, tacky exhaust, blow off valves, cone filters and the other bolt-on muck would have me running a mile.

Its part of what dictates between 50,000 hard miles and 50,000 easy miles IMO.

I'm sure other people have their criteria, but this is something that works well with me

Mines stickered up, one previous owner with 22K miles on an 05 WRX but it certainly never been driven hard at all and is immaculate. It depends on who has owned the car, not what it has had done. I'm a 36 year old married father of two who is fanatical about scoobys but doesnt mean that the car is a shed BUT I take your point

2003 with 10K and driven by a test pilot in 3rd gear everywhere with patchy servicing.

2003 with 50K, sensibly driven with a full service history and stacks of receipts.

Know which one I'd buy

Servicing has got to be the key factor. If it's a 2003 car then it should have had the big 30k/3 year service.

30k for a 4 year old car is nothing. GO FOR IT!

I suggest posting the link up for SN approval!

Would it put you off if the service history was independent specialist as opposed to dealer?

Just thinking about how I service mine once it is out of warranty.

So it will be dinged to bits? Rather buy from an "enthusiast" weekend driver myself.

Mine goes to ASP for its servicing. Dealer had one chance and cocked it up, never again.

How would it be dinged to bits? Never heard of mother and baby parking and as for being an enthusiast - ther is more to life than Subaru's u no!! A car is to be driven not shoved away in a garage all week.

Agree, but I'm talking about what I would be looking for buying an Impreza second hand. Like I said would rather buy from a weekend enthusiast than a daily driver, especially one used for supermarket runs. Speaking generally here of course.

You would expect a lower milage, well cared for car from the former. Not always true of course I know.

P.S. It's parent and baby parking, let's not be sexist now.
