Default Whats wrong with my Scooby?

I have been trying to sell my beloved Subaru 05 plate WRX PPP for 5 weeks now and have not even had one phone call. Have put it on here, autotrader website, Pistonheads and in the local press but not one call!!! It's now going in auto trader mag for 3 weeks from Thursday.

I dont think £11k is a bad price for a 05 Reg WRX PPP with only 20k on the clock. Its a UK car, serviced in June (hardly used since) all 4 alloys just replaced under warranty, 4 new tyres, not a mark on it etc etc

So, whats wrong with my car???

Just a bad time to sell an Impreza right now. Perhaps people are waiting to see what the reception of the new model STI will be like... the world also seems to have gone green which won't help.

I would not sell at the moment if you can avoid it. The saloons will either plummit in value as everyone wants the new hatch or they will hit a price and retain it, like the classics now have.

Yep, we've all gone green by removing our cats and filling up on high octane fuel

My view is that it's a bit of a specialist car really and also a bad time to sell before xmas etc.

I am only selling because I already have another car for my new job as doing 25k a year. Scoob is now garaged and not used. Luckily I am not in a desperate rush to sell so will just hang in there. Fingers crossed!

Nearest I could find was a Trade Sales car at £9,950 ......

USED SUBARU IMPREZA 2.0 WRX AWD Turbo, St Helens, Merseyside

Maybe yours is £1,000 over the odds??

I know it's got the ppp - but that really doesn't add much to value as the Insurance Market hates modified cars, even the Prodrive Mods. (people get scared off when doing a search for a quote).

Looks a cracking car and I wish you all the best, but everything has its price .... the price you are willing to sell for and the price a buyer is willing to pay - the trick is matching the two

Don't think it helps when brand new 57 reg 2.5 WRX EU imports are available for £14k ish from a dealer with 3 years warranty. Dealers can offer px, finance etc. and some people are wary of buying private.

Having said that, quite tempted by your car myself

Have you tried selling it back to a Subaru dealer?
My cousin has just sold his car back to the dealers, 54 plate wrx 44k (no ppp) and he got £10,000 for it

I actually think its priced about right. I just paid 11k for a 2004 wrx, 16K miles, and was looking around a lot , most up at £12 k- £13 k, so yours as a PPP is probably fair priced.

As the others have mentioned, probably just wrong "time"....... had i seen it when I bought mine, might have been different though ... not that that helps you !!!!

The one shown in the link PS is an MY04 - Thats a year older than mine!!! The 04 cars have the old style dash, dont have the red calipers etc so quite a big difference really. On Autotrader they range from about 11k-13k (I am talking low mileage examples here i.e. under 30k). I honestly think if I advertised it at 10k I still wouldn't have had any interest. Its just a case of waiting for someone who wants one - I know when I look for a new car I would much rather pay 1k more for an immaculate low mileage example. If I was desperate to sell than I might consider it but as It is I will just wait for a buyer who will match the very fair price I am asking. Comments RE PPP are fair though - my insurance went up circa 150k - all of £2.89/week!!!! Worth every penny.

Thanks for the compliment on the car - It really is a great car.

Yeah I have thought about this one. Call me old fashioned (or maybe stupid!) but I really wanted a UK car and not an import when I bought mine. Not exactly sure why and dont want start an EU import debate here. Guess its because I am a very risk averse person - that why I would always pay a little more for a car to have piece of mind.

lOOks a good buy, priced about right.

I honestly think people would prefer to splash out another £3k and get a brand new one. That and the uncertainty about the new model.

mate i would not worry too much. It tends to go quite about this time of year, with people getting ready for xmas. But as one of the other members said, maybe you should try touting it at subaru dealerships and see if they will match your evaluation of the car.

Interest rates gone up a bit; housing market looking a bit uncertain and lots of people coming off fixed rate mortgages in the new year. I think the market for expensive to run cars will be difficult next year.

One of the worrying things about buying a hi-performance car is breakdowns. Do you know if you can get a warranty for it? If so, advertise it with the warranty but only buy the warranty when you sell the car, that way there is no outlay until required. I would even put the price up by say half the cost of the warranty and make sure I don't move too much on the selling price as everything else about the car looks very good.

Just don't bother trying to get a warranty out of Warranty Direct!! They may advertise on SN but the won't cover Imps.

Good luck - your car looks very tasty.

The car is still under warranty until 31.3.08 so need to purchase another one - piece of mind for the buyer is already in place

Been offered 10.5k for the car from a couple of dealers. They would sell it for 11995 no doubt. Think I am gonna sit tight for now
