Question

Moderaters and regulars, is there such a thing as organsied scooby racing and if so is it made into a competition, something like rounds at Silverstone 1st round, 3rd round, quater final, final etc.

is there anything like that going on is it good old fashioned street racing?

There are organised track days, but not competition ones, take a look at www.sidc.co.uk or the BBS where they are advertised bbs.sidc.co.uk ...

As for your other suggestions, don't do it.

Yea cuz i forgot, how terribly unreliable they are.... err... they fine.
i dont remember cossies getting piston slap after 30k miles but scoobies...

u even know anything bout cossies? obviously not.

it seems scoobs blow up left right n centre with even mild tuning.

cossies as standard come with steel crank n rods + forged pistons, and a v.strong block, all things scoobs dont, thas y they blow, how many 500+bhp scoobs r there? loadsa 500+bhp road going cossies, may have done 20k+ miles of constant track days n top speed challenges without breaking, how many other 2litre engines that could produce 500+bhp could last that long?

if there are any 500bhp scoobs theyve got different crank, rods, the lot, cossie bits r so strong even the 500+bhp cossies run std crank n rods.

Dont give grief to something you know nothing about.

There used to be a couple of scoobs in the Castle Coombe Saloon car series - probably the only track racing scoobs in the UK ?

IIRC one of them had a habit of getting huge drive off the line then running into all the 2wd cars...

Yawn yawn Steve - You seem very FOCUSED on the engine. Admittidly a good basis for tuning. Pity the rest of the car is cr4p

jon - tell me more. I've always loved the idea of competing in a scoob (Maybe I should just attend more trackdays! )

fast bloke- i cant see anything different from a scoob to a cossie in image, to be honest i doubt if a scoob will look so special when its the age of cossies.

Ive got a 3dr n that looks better than any scoob barring a 22b.

UK scoobs look no better than saff cossies- ie a bit poo.

Brakes on a cossie are 4pots as std, dash is shiit but seats r good, box is incredibly strong, blah blah.

I think they on par with scoobs, esp taking into account the age difference.

good 3drs go for £7000 even tho they 15yrs old. good rs500's go for over £15000! cant imagine scoobs bein worth that at that age, can u?

And pls dont mention subaru like its a prestige marque, cus it isnt, what presige? impreza turbos? if thas the case then fords the same due to the cosworths.

Steve,

Any need to hijack the thread like this ? A simple question was asked, not a debate of whats better which will always be a matter of opinion. If you want a debate like this then start a new thread.

BRSCC Castle Coombe Saloon car championship - check out

http://www.brscc.co.uk/championships/championshipdetails.asp?champref=50

Basically, modified Saloon cars (reasonabley heavy mods too, i think - seam weld, go to town on the engine, etc), that race solely at castle coombe. Dont know much more than that to be honest, although there was at least one scoob (think two) in the series.

Expensive way to start racing though...

Cool

Well I dunno about you Mr RS Boy but I'll race you in my MR 2.....

http://www.scooby-world.freeserve.co.uk/1b.jpg[/img]

THIS IS A TRI JET POWERED TOYOTA MR2, BUILT IT MYSELF AND YES BEING CRAZY CAN B AN ASSET. IT IS POWERED BY THREE AIRESEARCH TURBOCHARGERS, RUNS ON EITHER JET-A FUEL OR DIESEL FUEL, SELF STARTING WITH COMPRESSED AIR AND SELF IGNITING WITH AN IGNITER FOR EACH COMBUSTER. IT IS SOOOOOO MUCH FUN. UNDER THE HOOD IS A 5 HP HONDA ENGINE THAT DRIVES THE ALTERNATOR, FUEL PUMP AND OIL PUMP, JUST PULL THE ROPE, GET IN AND START THE TURBINES AND GO. IT IS A LITTLE SLO OUT OF THE GATE BUT @ 50 MPH THE SPEED BUILD UP IS PRETTY IMPRESSIVE, WILL PROBABLY GO 120, ONLY HAD IT TO 80, THEY GET A LITTLE STEAMED IN IOWA @ 20 MPH OVER, ONE CAN WAKE UP WITHOUT A LICENSE, AND THERE IS NOT MUCH QUESTION BUT WHAT IT CAN B HEARD, ALTHOUGH I CONTEND ITS STREET LEGAL EXCEPT FOR THIS LITTLE EXCESSIVE NOISE ISSUE!!!! IT IDLES @ 50 MPH

COME ON THEN IF U THINK YOUR HARD ENOUGH !!!

HAHAH what hes not telling you is them things on the back are not in fact rockets, but ice cream makers.

He leaves a train of vanilla, and strawbery in his wake, and wins all the races because rwd 20000000bhp cozzys slip all over it

(ive seen the underside of it, and it has holes for your feet to run along the floor with, like the flinsones car hehehhee)

thanks for the link Jon.

Just downloaded the regs, it does look pretty extreme. (As in braking system is free... big money!)

To be competitive, You'd probably start with a prep'd rally car, and they don't really come cheap.

Still, gives me something to aspire to.

cheers,
Dave

No Seriously, I prefer the scooby, but these days I don't have much room for front seat passangers since my Nitro addition...
