Question Please, Please Help! EVO - back to a Scooby?

Help?

Don't know what to do and would love you to persuade me if possible.

I owned a Blob WRX PPP when I joined the forum! In July I part-ed it for a 2001 EVO TME. I just paid £2300 for a new AYC pump, and it's in the back of my head all the time - how much more money might I need to spend in the future if things go wrong. The EVO is in good condition with 36000 miles on the clock with a FSH!

I want to exchange the car for a 2000 W Reg SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI Version 6. West Country Imports - Used Cars Stock List | Specialist Vehicle Importers | Used Cars in Bath| Part Exchange It's selling for 10K. Guys stick yourself in my position - please, what would you do if it was you, stick with the EVO or go for STI?

Cheers,

Mark.

Hi Mark, that sucks just having spent a big wad on your Evo. I've had a number of situations where I've had to shell out big bucks on my cars and each time I've felt that pang of "this car's gonna cost me". On some occasions I've jumped ship and sold and on others I've sat it out and waited till I've got my money's worth out of it. Bottom line, I'd only sell if you really prefer the Scooby to the Evo - you can never tell when a car is gonna bite you in your wallet. If it's the money worry then wait a bit till that cheque is a distant memory then make your decision. Hope my TPW helps.

Personally, I would stick with the Mak over a v6 STi. Invest in a comprehensive warranty if piece of mind is required.

As an STi 6 owner myself, I'm biased. But £10k is a lot though. I got mine around July 2006 with 32k on the clock (also pristine) for a lot less than that.

I've since done about 40k miles in the last year alone. In this time the work I've had done is the usual servicing, new clutch, 5th gear "jump-out" fixed, 2 new front wheel bearings and a seized caliper replaced. This seemed a reasonable amount of work given the mileage. But it certainly isn't cheap. I think STi or Evo you have to expecta certain amount of "outgoings" if you want to look after the car. Any cost savings between the two is going to be down to luck than forsight I feel.

evo is probably the better car

but its also the more expensive to run. Personally only you can tell if your willing to accept the compromise for the sake of cost

I would stick with the TME!

Besides 10k seems a bit steep for the STI6

STi VI is a great car, not as good as the TME though. Keep it or sell privateley (sp?) & get yourself a newer STi with the difference. TME will sell all day long as everyone loves em.
