Default Question - Engine light on

Help

Just been driving over to see my olds and the engine light came on.

Popped the bonnet had a look nothing obvious then checked the oil once cooled and there isn't much.

Should I check the oil when cold?

What oil does is need 10W ???? I have no idea and no manual with me.

If it's below the minimum line roughly how much will I need.

Apologies for the stupid questions and yes I am a complete retard and should have been checking the oil level

when mine was below minimum, it took a litre to get upto maximum DONT just pour it all in tho, keep toping it up and checking the dipstick and make sure you dont over fill it.
Also 10w 40 is the oil you will need.
