Latest issue of TRUE GRIP
#1
Just like to say WELL DONE (to Graham and others) for the latest issue of True Grip. Biggest issue yet and most importantly, not a hint of bias towards or against grey imports either.

Agreed. Thought it was top class. It obviously took ages to put together and it showed! Thanks to one and all.
BTW I counted 4 uses of the word 'muppet' in it. Does this mean true grip will need a muppet page to it's self?

Photos and copy were excellent. Brings True Grip into line with other club's magazines (compared to the pamphlet it used to be...). I actually enjoyed reading it (Cossie owner don't forget ) - but who is this Stef Reader bloke?
Would like to see a "Car of the Month" in there - detailing the mods, power, and drivability compared to the standard model it is based on (performance figures would be nice too - or am I asking too much? ).
Regards

Reading True Grip is almost as good as being out in the car - you wouldn't believe the number of people pearched on my shoulder on the train this morning trying to read my copy!!
Excellent issue. A big thanks to everyone at the SIDC involved in the mag.

Agree with everyone, first class magazine, a lot better than some of the Japanese dedicated magazines on sale and these are professional publications.
Must get some more time off work next Summer and get to some meets.

First of all I must how well presented, produced and printed the new look (should that be new age) True Grip is. It's well written and easy to read.
Having said that, personally I would prefer to see a little less space given over to articles like the Tour D'Ecosse, however well written they are, and however good the pix. I feel that 8 pages (around a quarter of the edition) is a bit too much for these articles, when you consider how many people attended the event. Yet Trax, which had a higher attendance is only given 2. I realise that some people might say that is perfect reason for such a large article, but I'm not so sure.
Obviously I'm quite prepared to receive abuse over my personal opinions, although I would remind people that they are just that.

Yes Josh you are entitled to your own opinions. Maybe if we had each written 2 page articles the Tour D'Ecosse would have been cut down to squeeze our contributions in!

Thanks guys - nice to know you appreciate the efforts by the Committee in producing the mag.
If anyone has anything to contribute to the next issue, feel free to submit articles/photos for inclusion.
Space is allocated to articles on the basis of the article's length as written - if you want "Car of the Month" etc., then get writing!
Keep up the feedback as it's invaluable to us, to make sure we produce what you want to read. All suggestions gratefully received!

Well done mate , truly professional job.
Josh
Perhaps Stef ( TRAX Write Up ) only did two pages.
The Tour D'Ecosse was a good read and needed that amount of room.
I know my article had to be trimmed to fit in the mag but that's what the Editor does.

just got mine, would like to add to all the praise so far.
read it when I got in from work, while Charlie dimmock was prancing around with a very wet t-shirt on apparently!!! I couldn't confirm this as I had my nose buried in true grip, so it must be good to keep me from Charlie's wine corks !!!!!!!
and me motor gets a mention in the letters page.

Nice mag just joined and was impressed with the quality.
As for future editions how about running a popular upgrades section say brakes, wheels suspension etc ovet the next few editions.
Having recently bought my Scoob the amount of upgrade options can be quite daunting

Got mine yesterday, very impressed with new format and overall content. The committee now need to get people to write articles themselves and submit them for publication, hopefully with decent quality pictures....that counts me out as I can't write decently, and don't own a digital camera and before any comments are made I can read
It was also good to see the necessary contact details for club officers and the like, people like to know who you are and how to contact you...especially now Lee has set up the SIDC e-mail addresses.

It wold be good to see the list of mods done and tried, although I think the next issue cold be over 1000 pages LOL!

I have produced a wide range of topics on Car Care for 2 magazines that I write for. I intend publishing these soon.
Whilst the articles are too long for a club magazine, I am more than willing to contribute them as a sum total, FOC for distribution with the next issue.
If you are interested, please do email me.

Graham,
Good to see you on here. Is this going to be a regular thing, the BBS could always use more Scooby experts.
Must give you a ring regarding my future servicing.
For those of you who don't know who Graham is he runs

I realise at least one twit has misinterpreted what I wrote yesterday, so here goes.
As I said, like most people, I was mightily impressed with the new look, and the professional way in which it has been edited and put together. My criticisms were those which I have always felt about True Grip.
Regardless of how many pages Stef wrote, I just feel it would be interesting to see a couple more shorter articles, possibly relating to things many members would like to do, or would like more info on.
An example would be regularly running articles about things like Don Palmer's course, or the various driving/rally days people attend. Almost everyone takes some pix and, in my experience, there's usually someone who is willing to scribble a few columns relating their experiences.
I have not slated Graham or the Publication, quite the contrary.
