Default My new car blown away by...

Ok, i am new to subarus but have just bought myself a wr1 as a weekend toy, first outing pulling onto the chesterfield bypass off the big roundabout for people that know, an old sierra looking thing follows me so i think ok and floor it thinking no problem, it flashes me out the way and passes me like im stood, dont know what it was but had a massive rear wing like a table, never seen anything like it, never saw it again just left me. Thought these cars were quick, might sell it now and get something else, anyone know what it could have been ? I want one.

The WR1 isnt the quickest scoob by a long shot.

There are fast sccobs, cossies and evos out there running big bhp.
There are scoobs that are quicker than cossies and there are cossies that are quicker than scoobs.

Probably an rs500 as the previous poster said.
He saw your car and thought -probably a standard WR1 - and he knew that he had 200bhp or whatever extra bhp he was running more than you - so he put his foot down

Wouldn`t worry about it too much, you have no idea what sort of spec that car was, WR1 is a fast car, just have to remember theres always somone faster than you, i have a m8 with a standard looking purple corsa, complete with 1.5td badge, that would eat my type R in straight race....

Something that needs to be clarified - what gear were you in, when you floored it? Lets be honest, below 3.5k most Scoobs - inc. a WR1 - are pretty poor. If you were in 5th and below 70mph (don't even think about 6th!) there's no shame in being trounced by a 3-door Cossie with, maybe, 400bhp!
People buy Imprezas thinking that they're invincible. Wake up! there's a LOT of cars out there able to scare you in a real world situation!

First off, you need to learn how to drive a scoob. Second, that big ghay thing on the back of it would of been the 'pram handle' a big unless you want to look like an idiot.

And thirdly, my advice is sell the WR1 and buy something like a Corsa and stop racing on a public highway.

My dad bought me the car as i did'nt like the first one he bought me, can't remmember the name of it, a freind of mine recommended this website for problems etc, whats an infraction and whats the problem with my post, i love the car, how it drives etc, but it does feel cheap compared to my dads cars, sorry if i posted something that offends some people.
I was in third gear coming off bryan donkins roundabout in chesterfield up the bypass towards the m1 junction 29, i had changed into forth but changed back into third when the other car came up behind me, i could only tell it was a sierra as my dad had one when i was a child, this one looked different though, had a bodykit or something and was black, i was flat out when it passed and still changing up when it had gone.

Regards GS.

Talking of all the 'I cant believe I just got beaten by an X, Y or Z' posts - how many remeber the Top Gear program when they stuck nitrous in the crappy old Jag they had ? embaressed quite a few supercars in a drag race.

Just goes to show that there is ALWAYS someone faster than you, always someone who is a better driver, has more money, a better looking missus etc... and it isnt always the obvious ones who will beat you - stop trying to compete all the time and be happy with what YOU have !

Had to laugh.. I was driving through swanse aon friday night around 11pm (couldn't sleep so went down to mumbles for a spin).

ANyhow on the way back i got stuck behind these two clowns racing each other off each set of lights.. A corsa and a focus.. Lots of noise and trye squeeling and away they would go. Sat there each time i caught up with them at the lights thinking "I could eat you both in a race without tryin" But thought i would just leave them too it and ambled home at about 2000rpm enjoying my car

Having a play is all well and good, but racing and acting like a plank in built up areas is just stupid!
