bit of a schoolboy error with a very inadequate sized tub to catch the oil which has left a rather large splatter which has then run down the wall onto the path (don't do things by half!)

tried scrubbing it with fairy liquid but that hasn't worked. any ideas to get me out of a bollocking?

Paul,

Put some washing powder on it for a couple days...

Gets most of it up, but does leave a mark...

Driveway cleaner from Screwfix, works a treat.

The oil stain I had treated on my red brick drive had been there for at least 6 months and came off after one application.

I use a small amount of salt, then brush it up, use some more, etc until it's all gone. Works a treat as the salt absorbs it

Quote from a Cola website

"Remove Oil Stains from the Driveway!: Fish from Santa Cruz, California writes; "I grew up in Australia and it is well known that the best way to remove oil stains from concrete driveways or garages is to pour on coke, let it soak then hose off - Viola!" Thanks Fish!"

Last summer I removed a Peugeot MI16 engine etc from a 405 in my mums drive when she was away on holiday. I dont live with her you understand, I live in the city and park on the road outside my house, hence nowhere to do any work on a car.
Anyway I was working my *** off with the engine degreaser and a brush to try and remove the grease from the slabs but having little joy when a greasy wee junkie type who was passing told me to use bleach. I was sceptical but running out of options I went with it.

And he was spot on. Ordinary thick bleach, bang it on and leave it for half an hour, then a light brushing and hose off. Worked really well, in fact it made the slabs look almost new. Cheers gadgee boy

I had this problem ages ago and posted the same question.

Someone suggested concrete dust as it draws the oil out of the floor. I gave it a try, left it for a day or too and indeed it had done the trick.

Just check the weather forecast first
