I couldn't agree more.. I have 3 young girls (5,4 and 9 months) and cannot even start to imagine the pain of losing a child..
I'm not sure that it is a thing that you ever get over
Best wishes to them

My daughter died in my wifes womb, she was the same age as what the browns daughter was.
It's news like this, that brings back memories of that time for me and my wife. The tragic thing is, is that it is more common than a lot of people realise.
I hope they know that it was nothing THEY did or did'nt do. Things like this just happen, in spite of the best love and care we can offer.

Deepest sympathies to GB and wife.
Saw a new born baby in work today - they are so small and the whole thing of child birth is amazing. Really sad when something like this happens.

As everybody shows this is a sad time for any expecting couple, tho I have to raise the question of why this should deserve so much coverage ??
Do we see such coverage when it happens to Joe Public ?
If a sudden increase in NHS funding happens because of this then it will be criminal - why ? Because the NHS/Police/other gov orgs should get the funding it needs - not because a high profile gov offical has faced a tragic loss..
Perhaps David Blunkett should be burgled - then maybe Policing will go where it's deserved..
Perhaps Cherie Blairs' elderly father should be left on a trolley in A&E, then perhaps NHS will get the right funding...
Dont get me wrong, I have two kids and wouldn't begin to understand the pain that the Browns are going thru, but lets just remember there are thousands of families out there that dont get the support or sympathy they need because they are only Joe Public...

Scooby related????? I think not.
All the same it is very sad indeed. I can't imagine it.
It gets the coverage because he's in a prominent position. Personally think that makes it worse for them. Having to show the world so many emotions in such a short time.

I think this thread has lost direction, I'm sure it wasn't started
as some sort of soap box but as a sign of respect for somebody (what ever their politics) who has had a major upset in their lives.
I'm sure we would all offer our condolencies (excuse spelling) if it was one of us that had suffered this terrible loss.
Give them a break, you may not believe in his politics but he's life has just fallen in on him. I would say the same if it was someone well known or Joe Public.

Totally agree...
It's just annoying that all the media time that's been spent on it, that was partly my point..
Is it really in the greater publics interest ??? If so why ?, what special about this couple compared to Joe Public..
My point was not politcally motivated - they're all dodgy, corruptable, untrustworthy, hidden agenda merchants regardless of the party they belong to in my opinion...

My sympathy goes out to the Browns, I lost my youngest son as he was 12 weeks premature and only survived a day, believe me nothing on else hurts like wot they will be feeling, the coverage I think is good because it shows that medical advances are not as great as everyone believes and that people shold not be so confident in that everything will be fine, i never knew the risks, the doctors never tell u, so hearing it from the tv made me realise if my son had survived wot actually killed him he would have had a lot of other battles to fight!!! Sometimes coverage like this helps people deal with their own losses because of the info that gets given and to see that unfortunately that they are not the only ones to have had such an unbearable loss...

The fact is no hospital in the world can deal succesfully with these problems, its not a money issue with premature babies so its no good blaming the health service, private care wouldnt help. The fact is the coverage is making people aware that this is not as uncommon as people think and many babies don't survive which is what many hospitals try and hide! The hospital my son died at was supposed to be an excellent hospital for special care baby units, except the fact it was a doctors mistake with a tube which killed my son! Baby's dieing from prematurity and associated complications are kept from the publics ears and people believe that risks are very small, this is not the case and I have learnt an awful lot from the tv coverage which i never got told when my son died! I hate the government and the way they dont fund the health service enough as much as anyone else, but this is not the Browns personal fault and the death of their baby is as tragic as anyone elses, no more and no less.

I am not ashamed to admit that me and the wife shed a tear for the Browns. We lost our son at over 6 months in the womb, last July. We now face many complications for the next pregnancy, but hopefully all will be well come July 11th 2002, a date that 7 months ago didn't seem likely.I look forward to the birth of my next child and I am sure that those of you who had this happen to you felt the same.
A prosperous New Year to you all.

Am totally saddened to hear of such awful news.
Zip 106, **************, Jason H, Neil S - you all deserve as much sympathy and understanding as anyone else in this awful situation. Knowing how common these problems obviously are brings home even more how tragic this news is
I have a 5 year old and she is worth everthing to me.
Even more than the car ;p

Thanks ScooBabe, but I still think there are people alot worse off than me and the wife. We still have the chance of another child but many people only get the one chance and I find that REALLY sad.
Thanks again.

Yup
Afraid I agree with ga22ar and Shark.
It would be nice to think this might make the government that hold us in so much contempt to do something about supporting and encouraging the family unit - but don't hold your breath
Meanwhile, Teflon Tone is too busy swanning around India like some sort of demi-god when he should be at home sorting out the third rate country this has become.....
As someone said in the last couple of days - imagine the response if Indian and Pakistani leaders came over here and started trying to give us "advice" on how to sort out Northern Ireland.....
