Question WHO'S RUNNING A DAWES DEVICE?

I have an 02 WRX and thinking of upping the boost - is using a dawes device a dangerous option?

Anyone fitted / running one with good results?

Cheers

Nope, it's only as dangerous as the user... Get an accurate boost gauge and don't push the boost to ridiculous levels. Ask other 02 WRX owners what is a safe level. I ran one for around a year on a classic with no ill effects, but I was never tempted to raise the boost to fuel-cut levels.

I ran one on my 02 WRX upped the boost from 0.9 bar to 1.1, made a big difference. Ran it for 18months or so with no probs, you will hit fuel cut anymore than 1.15 ish though

Not sure of the bhp increase, but even if you set it to standard boost, it will feel better because there is no spiking. I'm getting one soon. Where can you get original Dawes from?

Just ordered the hybrid from 3bar racing. 26 quid delivered . Just hope I don't get 20 quids worth of customs charges.

Question for the guys with one: Their website states that it can run up to 15psi. I'm probably gonna need 17psi or 1.2bar. Have any of you had to adjust it to run more?
I did have one before on my Punto, and was running 21psi (1.4bar!! ). That didn't need adjusting.

I had one on a 94 UK car. Set it up using a boost gauge. Turned up up until I hit the fuel cut and then backed it off a bit.

Ran it like that for a couple of years with no problems at all. The only issue I had was having to adjust it when winter came as it would allow it to hit the fuel cut again.

Dawes on a newer car (99 onwards) are a bit obsolete tbh, your better off having a remap which is much safer

Cheapo way of bleeding off boost from the actuator to allow the turbo to run high boost levels.

It should be able to adjust boost to 1.4 -1.5 bar. Mine went to 19 psi/1.3 bar when I was adjusting it and there where still a few turns left.

It is always better to run a higher-rated fuel pump and a parallel fuel rail mod on any Impreza, especially Classics...

L33 WRX, did you get one in the end.
I've got mine, but not got round to fitting it yet.
I've fitted them to other cars before, so shouldn't be a prob. But the only guid I can find on here is this one :http://stefanostadal.homedns.org/car_mods_engine.htm
and it doesn't work anymore.
