Cool

Some of you may have heard that we had a minor glitch (read crash) on the wetter the better course.

I am pleased to report that we now have a much happier situation at MIRA and it turns out that we have the potential for a much-improved course to boot!

Our previous general format involved groups of up to eight people at a time. A recent minor accident has been perceived as a major health and safety hurdle at MIRA and we can no longer run in our old format due to the health and safety restrictions.

What we have managed to achieve is a restructuring of the day that now provides one to one coaching as per our exclusive clients and for the same price as the old group courses. (The loss of social interaction in some groups is a downside but some groups did grumpy quite well anyway and for them this is no loss).

On balance the new format means that we can focus on individuals who arrive at MIRA in pairs at pre-arranged times during the day. They get undivided one to one coaching with little distraction from others nor do they have to wait while others receive coaching. The learning is much more efficient.

There has always been a high demand for one to one coaching at MIRA
The two-hour, one to one coaching courses run have all been very expensive (Circa £1000 plus) because they basically take up a whole day and require the exclusive and very expensive use of the £3.4M facility. At the same time we, and our clients, recognise that this has been the very best course we ran with the very best learning possible. (The best learning is achieved by short concentrated sessions of coaching).

We look forward to booking you onto the new format courses that will be running from now on most weekends by appointment.
We really value your feedback so keep it coming.

Don,

Bet the 'minor' incident was in a Scooby. There's some right nutters drive them

2 Whole hours in my car with you ! My car will think its got a new owner who can actually drive

Sounds good, although it will take some of the fun out of it, watching other people spin for instance. And if you're coming a long way it may put people off if its only 2 hours. For me it would be 4 hours there and 4 hours back. But then I live up North so you won't care about that

Saying that I'm saving to come again so I'll sample the new format next year and tell you what I think then.

Thanks for keeping us updated.

Dave
It might have been!

The fact is that people are completely off their trolley after much more than two hours on the limit and that was a contributory factor in the "minor".
HSE went nuts at the thought and Draconian took over immediately. Still I think it did us all a bit of good, - it’s very easy to sit on your laurels and do nothing new! As it happens I think the course will benefit.
Don’t forget a Grand Prix is supposed to last less than two hours and they are supposed to know what they are doing aren’t they?
The really funny thing is that the “best” courses we ran were always Two hour one to one courses at MIRA and they used to cost a really cool quantity of hard earned. Never ever thought of trying to do more than one of those in a day. When we came to analyse it we discovered we could do almost the same thing at just over a quarter of the price!

Don,

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the going rate? I have to admit that I am desperately interested in attending one of your courses, and with a Birthday AND Christmas coming up this might be the time to grovel the trouser wearer.

Jonathan,

Don will teach you to be a better driver which will mean that YOU will be able to safely find out about any car you drive.

Cost is about £300.

Go for it, it will be the best money you spend on upgrading the most vital part of your car...Namely YOU.

Wink

As the friend in question, the "escort" sounds like a bit of fun too. Perhaps we could arrange one while the other members of our group are blasting around MIRA...

Question

I've been planning to book a day for a while now. I recently sold my Scoob and bought an EVO VI (Hissss!!)but my friend has a Golf and was wondering if Don had an old rear drive escort or something that he could use on the day.

If not, does anyone know where a fun rear drive (or 4WD)car could be hired for a day?

Red face

of course I meant Escort with a capital E! (I just had an image of my friend taking an escort from behind as I was sliding around a concentric circle in my EVO VI)

Cool

Thanks for all the interest I hope this little update is useful.
Well we ran the first course with the new format this weekend and it all looked very promising. It's a bit early to generalise but the driving on track (read wet narrow B road) was much better than the average on the old format courses.
I think this is as a result of undivided attention on our part. With better contiuity and far less distractions on behalf of the coachee.
We also need to make sure that H&E situation at MIRA is satisfactory but that is just a matter of time too.
For those who don't know about cost and venue perhaps it would be better to Email me don@drivingdevelopment.co.uk will do that nicely.
