Default Warning: Cheap Ebay Shifters

Quick shifters of the upmost poo quality are available on ebay. I paid £30 for what looked like a B&M but obviously isnt. Ive done around 1000 miles with it in and tonight whilst out on a drive and at a moment when pressing on and changing quite spiritedly the bloody thing fell apart and left me without drive at the lights! 30-45sec of furious fumbling ensued (which is a long time on the road) and I managed to get it back in its hole and hold it down in place so I could change gear. At a glance it just looked like the circlip had popped out, but when I pulled over up the road for a good look the metal ring that holds the rod in place and goes under the circlip had shattered in to bits! I now have to pull my shed out in the hope the old shifter is in there and servicable tomorrow, grrr.

You have been warned!

i got a short shifter from 800bhp on ebay in oct 06 and 8000 miles later its still working fine (TOUCH WOOD ).it looks like the 2 fast 2 cool one aswell and also cdf racing do one that looks the same,in this blue colour, so i suppose it depends which company you get it from or you was unlucky and got a duff one.
have you contacted who you bought it off what have they said.

Sounds like a poor installation to me.
SPLIT RINGS must be used.
They are a swine to ensure they are fitted correctly.
You need to use the correct tool.
