Running on super unleaded!?!
My scooby was mapped on optimax,if I use super unleaded instead will it make a difference in power and/or be harmful to the engine (does run a hell of a lot better on optimax)? The reason is is that the closest shell garage is half an hour a way from my house!!
Cheers,
Andy

Of course, there is no such thing as Optimax any more, it changed to V-Power quite some time ago, and with it an increase from 98 to 99 RON Doesn't sound a big difference, but can give an effective safety margin.
When you say "super unleaded" you should quote the brand as some are better than others in Subarus. A good mapper would have left a small safety margin built into the map, so you should be ok. Using a small amount of octane booster will give you a bit more confidence.

Sorry yeah I meant V-Power!! The closest one to me is BP which is 97 Ron but the difference in the car is really noticable, very smooth through the gears and does feel faster.I just dont want to be putting something into that could damage the engine in future.

I believe the perceived wisdom is that V-Power is far preferable to BP Ultimate and most mappers advise steering clear of Bee Pee. V-Power (99 ron) and Tesco super 99 ron are best available. Esso super is best of rest. Best advice is put best fuel in you can and try to avoid 95 ron especially as yours is JDM. Jap cars originally mapped for 100 ron etc....

Ideal solution would be to get it mapped again on the fuel you intend to use. You've already taken the hit on the licence so a remap is only the mappers and RR time.
