Default underbonnet insulation

Anyone know the best place to get underbonnet insulation? The yellow stuff on my 95 WRX auto has disintengrated and what's left is thin and crumbly. Apart from anything else (ie whether or not it's needed/useful) it looks bloody awful.

You'd need to get it new i reckon as it ages and goes crappy, try a dealer.

Or just rip it out, looks neater, only slightly more noise heard when running.

Dave
There maybe is. I've seen cars with heat reflective tape on the underside of the bonnet.

Interesting idea - under boonet insulating tape. Anyone confirm they've done this, whether it works, what sort, how much, etc?

Rang a dealer for a price - almost £110!!!!!!!!!!!!

i removed mine,cleaned it up,looks cool.

with the reflective tape, surely this is bad, you dont want to reflect the heat BACK down onto the engine !!!

you need light to reflect the heat, when the bonnet is shut there aint no light

I have some aluminium speed tape but its only 1 1/2@ wide. I think foilatec do this sort of thing but AFAIK its more for aesthetic purposes, when the bonnet is up at shows etc.

as far as i was aware, it was for noise, not heat loss as you dont want a hot engine bay !

could be wrong....my ra and my 555 had none on them....
