Changed tyres from 17" RE070 as standard to 18" Eagle F1 and Tein Springs and the car rides a lot better.. not quite as harsh as it was before which I think was caused by the really stiff sidewall on the standard Bridgestones.

Cheers,
Grant

From a personal point of view, I've tried a lot of different tyres including premium and more budget makes, but nothing comes close to the all round performance of the Eagle F1 tyres and in the wet they are absolutely amazing....... something I couldnt say about the Bridgestone RE070 in wet conditions.

The bridgestones look more frightening than they are... people keep asking me if my tyres are legal. Not pushed them in the wet yet, daresn't. But then again not used my DCCD thingy yet, I'm a coward in a scoob

Changed the RE070 on my Spec D for Eagle F1 - always used them on all my Imprezas, can't recommend them enough.

Are the F1's the XL type or the normal ones..? I read a lot on here about using the XL variety..?

For those of you who have used F1s prior to their Spec D (06/07 STi) had you used them on a Classic prior to using them on your Spec D?

The reason I ask is that I was very happy with the F1s on my Classic but wonder if the 20+% additional weight of the Spec D would affect the handling or does the XL take care of that?

I've used F1s on MY00 (classic), MY03 STi, MY05 WRX and MY06 STi Spec D, the XL version is recommended for the later MY cars for exactly the reason you mention.

Wouldn't use any others.
