My First Scooby!
Hi to all as this is my first post! I've become the proud owner of a near mint condition 1998 Turbo Sportwagon and I love it! I've had quite a few 'warm' cars before but this is just on such a different level it's messing with my head. The performance for a nine year old car just blows me away and the handling is sublime. It's had quite a pampered life with expensive dealer services but my first question is do these cars really need main dealer servicing? I have a really good local any-make garage but I wondered if there are little finicky things in the service best left to a main dealer?
I'll be reading the forum like a madman for the next few weeks just to pick up hints and tips

Ideally go to a well respected Scoob specialist if you have one close to home. But I'm sure as PSLewis will tell you these cars are nothing special mechanically and should be quite straightforward to look after by any competent mechanic. Main thing is to stick to the 7.5k miles / 6 months service intervals and you can't go too far wrong. In my opinion a few £ spent on a good quality synthetic oil will help keep your engine in tip top condition.
There are a few quirks that the Scoob has to make things a bit fiddly, for example the spark plugs aren't the easiest in the world to change due to the flat four engine. A specialist should be able to do stuff like that with there eyes shut, local garage may struggle a bit at first. Point them at SNet if the need help!
Enjoy and welcome to ScoobyNet
