£8,750 would be cheap, assuming that all is as it should be. Whether someone will sell for that is another matter... I think he'll be expecting closer to £12,750!

i assume your refering to this Blue one on piston heads?? for 15k
Subaru : 2003 WRX UK 340BHP - STI Spec
This person is an absolute dreamer, you could by a genuine STI with less miles and tune it to 400bhp and still have allot of change left!!
£10,950 is my valuation.
I mean come on you could buy this lads Genuine STI with 430bhp for £5 more
Subaru : 2003 STI 426BHP 410 FT TRQ

HA HA HA HA the engine was shagged at 52,000 miles ...... just the type of car to carry a £8500 price tag?? I DON'T THINK SO
I honestly wouldn't buy it at ANY price ... too many nice examples about to sanction buying a clapped out, thrashed, modified vehicle - don't you think?

I knew the engine was shagged out at 52,000miles - that was justification enough for my price ...... your £8500 is just daft given the info you had!

It probably is too much but theres some decent kit on it. Shame its not an STI base but from waht I can see all it really needs is some beefy brakes and it won't need any more tweaks.
IMO, 400HP in a road car is more than enough. In fact if not built properly 400 will be difficult to use (MR400 anyone - apparantly).
The gearbox is a PPG gearset so AFAIK more than capable to cope with the power (aren't STI 6s pushed at 400HP? )
You never make back the mods/repairs you make to a vehicle and the guy obviously wants to start high. Between 10 and 12 I'd be happy to pay and with what left over get some nice AP stoppers or a full STI setup
Personally, I think the front end looks crap and so does the roof vent. Also, I'm looking for a newage to replace my classic and even with the above kit I want an STI as a base to work from. Theres an MY06 hawkeye STI on autotrader for £15K. Its done 25K in a year but for someone like me who does bugger all miles thats not an issue (the 5K shortage in my pot is )

lol - thanks a lot mate.
All this guidance is very helpful.
As mentioned the car itself has done 60k, however with a new engine on only 8k its barely run in.
however i will not be messing about with the prices quoted, i will try and see what his bottom line is.
glad i asked now!!!

AT the end of the day you can spend as much as you like modding and it aint worth a ****e when you try and sell it!
most punters would rather buy a stoock item unmoulested which usually gives the impression it hasnt been thrashed, because if we all all honest the only reason you big up the horses is to go faster when you thrash it, and how much abuse did that motor get to have to have an engine rebuild 8k ago
Now if you want to buy a nice standard 02 plate WRX and you can go nuts modding it and abusing it, you can have mine for £8750, with 36k genuine miles and no thrashing

Hmm well, parkers says in mint condition and 30k miles it's worth about 12... I take my original
8k valuation back and would go closer to 10k private sale, 8k part ex.
Personally fella, I wouldn't pay double the value of the glasses (sp) guide price for a modded car just because some bloke I don't know has spent his hard earned doing it up and ragging it round everywhere But I appreciate there are many who would and that's their call.
