Default Doing some mods

Im buying a Feral racing full 3 inch bore exhaust system off a Forum member this Sunday.

My car is a 2002wrx with prodrive ecu and exhaust at the moment

I want to get to about 300 bhp and lower the ride and improve handling.

What would be the next mods I'd need to get towards this power?

Does anyone know of any decent mappers on the east coast or near to?

Also my turbo has covered 80,000 miles now so would it be time for a replacement?

Thanks

You'll need to replace the turbo anyway for a certain 300bhp - say a TD04 Hybrid or a VF35.

You'll need a Walbro fuel pump (assume the exhaust is a decat ?).

With the VF35 you'd get more power, but would need more supporting mods to get the best out of it : Sti intercooler and undertray, Sti pinkie injectors, ported headers.

On the other hand you have lower spool and unchanged responsiveness with "the wee hybrid".

Re mappers - how far up or down are you on the east coast - are we talking Norwich or Newcastle ?

Re ride and handling - Prodrive dprings and geometry set-up from your friendly local Subaru dealer, Whiteline ARB and steel droplinks from Demon Tweeks.

Hope this helps y'all !

Andy

Close to Norwich mate

I dont want to spend loads of money, these hybrids look nice but are a lot of money arnt they?

The exhaust is a full decat

Whats the best place to buy suspension parts from? again dont want nothing too expensive.

On a budget.

Cheers guys

Hybrid from Andy F is £470 with trade-in, if I recall correctly.

Dunno about mappers near you - Andy f is near edinburgh and bob Rawle is in Swindon.

If you're on a budget, skip the turbo change, just remap the car with decat sports cat and do the suspension mods. Brake pads are worth changing too.

A mate just bought one of these exhausts from Roger clark motorsport for £175 (used) it sounds amazing....

only problem is the boost spike... its bad.

He's got it sorted temporarily with a different size jet in boost pipework until its mapped properly.

Cool, looking forward to getting it now.

Ive also been told you cant change the induction kit on a car of my year as it messes with the MAF sensor but Ive seen these two kits that seem to re-locate the MAF

Subaru Parts at Graham Goode Racing
01-05 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX/STI COLD AIR INDUCTION KIT on eBay, Performance Tuning Parts, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (item 180143490818 end time 06-Aug-07 21:06:18 BST)

and just found these springs too

New Subaru Impreza WRX Lowering Suspension Spring Kit on eBay, Subaru, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (item 250150969089 end time 10-Aug-07 15:20:40 BST)

Forget a induction kit, the standard setup is good for about 350bhp with a good panel filter (green for example)

I'd go for Prodrive or Eibach springs with a full alignment

Roughly £200 squid for the parts, same again if you're a lazy mother like me and get them to fit them/do the geometry.

Cheers

Ello again Doidge - Prodrive Springs, fitting and geometry by local Stealer - £400.
Whiteline ARB & steel droplinks, £150ish, from Demon Tweeks.

I phoned my local scooby dealer today and can get the springs for £165 +VAT, can fit them myself, my main concern is where to get the goemetry done.

Ill probs get the drop links as well, was the handling transformed andy?

Yes, substantially better, although the cheaper Whiteline ARB is probably the most effective mod you can get, pound for pound.

A dealer can do geometry, ask for "Prodrive" settings.

Don't get the geometry done straight away, let the springs settle then get it done
