Skyline vs Impreza
Was just wondering which would be quicker, a skyline (any standard derivative) or a newage STI (also standard)?
I love Skylines, have always been one of my favourite jap cars of all time (up with the Supra), but never had the pleasure of driving one. Reason I am asking the question is I saw one the other day, no idea what kind as apart from the GTR badge, it was debadged. It had the body kit, huge exhaust etc but no idea if it was as high a spec as it was made to look like. Basically, I was surprised when I pulled away from the lights and up to 60 quicker than him.
I backed off at that point as was the speed limit on the road we were on. Am I being over respectful of a legendary car?

Standard STi will be quicker than a standard Skyline as they have similar power & the Skyline is as heavy as a small planet. Chances are though that you will never come up against a standard Skyline; they are all tuned to 400+ bhp aren't they
Personally I'd be loathe to take one on as as it would probably kick my *** ...
TX.
[edit - nice looking car you have there fella!]

Had a go in a 500bhp skyline and by the time the boost and grunt kicked in my spec c would of been long gone.Like tx said they weight quite a few kilograms more then evo's and sti's.

Thanks TX glad you like.
So they aren't as quick as I thought unless you tune them. Are they a better top end car then when tuned? They just look terrifying don't they lol

they are...lol my gts scares the hell out of me, its way heavy compared to the p1 but from about 80mph in the skline it just keeps getting faster..lol
and it gets very lively with the rear end stepping out most the time.

Got a lovely R33 GTR up for sale at the mo, have to admit running 300BHP at the wheels makes for some serious accelaration, but back in a scoob now and loving every minute of it!! I do agree as soon as you start tunning the skylines you can get some very impressive power outputs, but the scoobys win hands down for handling and b road fun!

I bought an R33 GTS-T in March and it was pretty much standard apart from apexi induction kit and nismo back box, the power delivery was very smooth (nothing like my old STi) but didnt feel quick until you reached 80+ then it starts to fly...
