I bought all the bits for an engine upgrade last year but then went out in a WRX with AST suspension. My sti had a significant power advantage but on the road this meant nothing-my car simply could not keep up.
I ended up going with the AST's first then added the power upgrades to compliment some months later. Engine mods are great but useless in a car that handles poorly. Great on the rollers perhaps but thats about it.
Handling first IMO.

I think he means "warranty"
It all depends on your driving style and the use of your car.
If your car is used as you said, chasing your mate in his Subaru, then yes, go for the suspension upgrade so you are not embarrassed again.
Me........I prefer straight line power to embarrass others as I don't trust myself fully in the handling/driving department.
Either way it's all good fun.

Handing here also.
I have a T20 and it's handling is far more usable and enjoyable under daily and normal road conditions that 400 BHP.
Simply put; big power is for special occasions and the odd time you get the chance to unleash it all. But a well handling car is usable everyday for much longer periods and requires much more input (especially with AST's or other adjustables that can completely change the car with a few clicks), even with minimal power.
