Default 1000 mile service, finally..

Finally got round to booking the car in for its 1000 mile service, its on 1100 now
Due to it being a Euro model the service is chargable, approx £150 is what they are quoting. Such is life eh.

Only problem is, I still have not received the service book from the dealer So im chasing that and will have to return to Subaru to get the book stamped when they finally send it out.

Strange - I didn't have all that hassle and cost when I bought mine from my friendly UK Main Dealer .......................

AND I enjoy a much better Residual Value

Life is good ....

Thats superb for you, im overjoyed...
Im the mean time I will enjoy my trip to Florida in 2 weeks time paid for with the savings on the purchase price of the car, and not be sad enough to worry about 3 years time when the car finally gets sold.

Paying for an oil change is hardly a hassle..... is it ?

Lets talk residuals in 3 years time when the Gov hav done everyone over 3 more times, and see if ANY scoobies are worth much.

Lee, mine was almost done in the first week too, just could not be bothered to do the last few miles lol. Im old and boring.
Its a while I wait service anyway

I've been holidaying for years on the back of my higher residuals - enjoy your 'one off'

Now, what can I spend my £150 on that I saved by not paying for the 1,000 mile service??

Just joking with you - enjoy opening her up

lol nutter, residuals are returns not savings, so you are only spending what you once spent and had returned
As for the servicing costs, bad timing lol always comes at the worst times eh

Opening her up?? You mean it revs more now?? Did I miss something about running her in...

I did think about pushing this one a bit further, but I'm in a good mood - and he is so looking forward to taking her up to 4000RPM for the next 5,000miles as per the running-in schedule!!

i received my service booklet today after waiting 3months, apparantly this is a normal waiting period. bad news is 1st service 1600km, 2nd service 5000km, 3rd 15000km or 12months
(so a minimum of 3 services in the first year, and a minimum 2 services every year after, coupled with £400 annual car tax, best get some overtime in),
4th is 18months, 5th is 24months or 30000km........so every 6months needs a service, AND/OR every 15000km (approx 9000miles).

I am still waiting on mine, doh lol

Thought the schedule was
1000 miles, 10k miles, and then 12 months or 10k...
I know European countries require more frequent services, but apparently the greyed out ones only apply to certain countries, UK remains under warranty if the 10k's are done.

Running costs are not too much of an issue tbh, if its more servicing so be it

It depends where the Car originally came from. Mine came from Malta and the service intervals go something like 1000, 9000, 19000, 28000, 38000 and so on. In the service book there are also in between service intervals but you do not have to follow these to keep the warranty as they are only if you live in certain climates or you do a lot of stop/start driving. In my service book the intervals to follow to keep up the warranty are coloured Grey.

Yes bought mine new back in Dec 06, Took it fairly easy for the first 1k, I set my rev warning buzzer at 3800 rpm to remind me. Occasionally I would take it up to 5.5k, very hard not to. My Service book turned up at the end of Feb which was well past the first service. When It goes in for its second I will get the dealer to stamp it.

Hurrah, all done, great turn around time and got to work on time
Arrived just after 8am, checked the car in, it went in, and got it back and out and up to Vauxhall from Cheam for 10am

As well as the oil change they did a few other tweaks like adjusting the handbrake etc.

£141 for the pleasure lol
