Certainly not always the case!
Don't believe all the misconstrued statements made.... with the correct set-up and FMIC this is not an issue.

What set up would overcome the lag?

Too tall and skinny for an APS DR725.
The APS is designed to sit mostly behind the air intake, under the bumper bar. That big tall one sits behind ALL of the bumper (and the splitter).
To be honest, I thought it was one of the Hybrids as they have a lot of surface area.
As Webby says, a good remap gets rid of the lag. I have hardly any.

It looks like the FULL Hyperflow kit to me.... the oil cooler looks (from what I can see) the same as the Hyperflow one and the inner wing induction kit looks like the Hyperflow one.

Looks more like a cow catcher than an intercooler.

Frayz, it is indeed the Lateral Performance intercooler/radiator kit. Huge core that is well disguised when fitted

Not in the slightest, it's got a larger surface area than standard, and is a 4 core design.
