MY2001 Brochure
#1
Just driven the new WRX, yeah I know, blah blah slower, blah blah quieter, blah blah smoother and all that. Thing is though that it's not much different to my MY00 in speed - now I really know my car is off the pace!
Anyway, I got a brochure for the new WRX (sorry if this has been done before but no search facility) and here are my observations:
No mention of VVT. Strange that they wouldn't want to shout about this!
Aluminium bonnet(like STI) and yes it was lighter.
Clear indicators/repeaters options. This hides them against the siver colour - probably a good thing.
Front lip spoiler options, one good one bad.
Rear under spoilers, again one good one bad - is this a first? Is it really for under body aerodynamics or just looks? I always thought airflow under the rear bumper must be bad, as it's shaped like a 'scoop' to catch/impede the airflow. I thought only Ferraris and lotus's etc had these so far.
Strut brace option - bit tacky in gold IMHO.
Carbon dash option - need to see this in the flesh, wood option garish though.
Aluminium pedals look like they have been stuck on the rubber ones underneath - bit tacky.
Middle sun visor is next to useless for short people (like women) te he.
No cup holder in middle pull up thingy any more.
Front disc brakes are 16inch! they don't look it. The rear calipers now have Subaru on them - better.
That's about it, I've tried to resist posts like this but couldn't help it. I think I need help.

I heard that only the Jap models have VVT. UK models not. Hence 247 vs 215bhp and why the early reviews of Jap models thought they were up to the pace. The difference cannot all be in 95/97 vs 100 RON?
