Question

I have no idea how much a 30,000 mile service should, or will, be - I think its a big one (those nasty little spark plugs that take our friendly dealers 6 hours to get to!!)

So, anyone been hit with this one lately and will it really hurt me? I have £149 to spend (should I have the tracking set-up too!) ha ha

As Rich says:
I phoned Charles (Mill Lane, which I guess is local to you) and he was talking about mid £400's.

hi...

i think most dealers will tell u what u can do with your £149

depending on who your dealer is you're looking at £350-450

the 90k service, should u keep the car that long, will *really* sting

Thanks all - Mill Lane is my local garage - but, at a possible £450 verses a trip to Scotland and have it done for £360?? I could rent a cottage for the week on the savings!! RESULT!!!

Do the spark plugs come out at 30,000?? Apart from the fluids, is that all the 'extra' is?

Where do you stand if you renew all the fluids yourself, I wonder?? Because when I go in I tell them to leave the washer bottle fluid alone - I can buy 2 litres of the stuff for what they charge for a little sachet!! will that invalidate my warranty? Lets face it, they charge you top money for the fluids THEN charge and arm and leg to put them in for you!!!!!

Oh, well, start saving!!

Pete

Got mine done at falkland performance in fife, 300 squid, plugs and fluids and filters, apart from my K/N.
only took them 5 hours including fitting eibachs and geometry!

Yes it'll hurt, but ring round and see if you can get a price match.

And don't get the tracking done by the dealer - I was charged about £60+VAT but they barely adjusted anything - it was all within Subaru's stupidly wide tolerances (including positive camber on one front wheel and negative on the other...)

Question

Right, any advance on £300 squidliedoolies??

Its amazing isnt it? start from £460 and then £300 seems a bargain!!

Start from costing the items and then saying £300 and you think, 'What a bloody stitch up!'

5 hours work should cost, what? £200? Fluids and plugs at what you could buy them for at a Motor Factors, what? £60 tops?

So where the hell do some dealers get £460 from?? Add a number, double it, add some more, VAT, more VAT - add a windscreen wiper here - a 'dim' bulb there and there you have it!!
