Default Alternative to SECS data monitors.

See if anyone gets what the hell I am on about...

I am looking at new headunits and the new Alpine double din appeals to me for a number of reasons.
Anyway, as it has LOADS of functionality, I wondered if there were any ECU data readers that can utilise the screen on the headunit, to operate as a data monitor as well as all the other functions.

I see ECUTek have some software on there, but have no idea how anything like that works.

Any boffs give me a clue ?

Not quit sure on the 07's but can you remove the clock a la Newage and fit a dash top unit/pod instead?

Naaaa dont want a pod unit or anything. Had the PSi3 before, so wanted to run something similar, but integrated into the screen if such a thing exists.

Cant be bothered with defi type gauges etc

Dash on the bug and hawk are almost the same, certainly the clock pod etc

you would need a pc or laptop within the car and output that to the video in on the headunit.

The Ecutek Delta Dash software will run on the laptop hooked up to the car via the OBD port and display on the headunit.

Aaah cheers for that mate, looks like that idea is out of the window then lol.
Hmmm thinks again....
Maybe I will have to get a SECS or something then. Not seen one for the 07 yet Simon said something about one coming soon and something to do with Ecutek.

Aaaah well, I reckon get the Alpine and go from there then

Incar PC isnt as expensive as you might think these days - and you get to run ecutek/satnav/mp3/radio etc through the PC with a built in double din touch screen, the custom PC bit tucked away in the boot.

Have a chat with the guy behind this website
Subaru Impreza CarPC

He does post on here, I bought an OBD-II cable from him and was a top bloke to deal with, friendly and helpful etc.
