I'm not sure, I hope you didn't actual buy any at that price, you can get records a lot cheaper than that.
I've seen NUL for 96.9, but nothing for over £1.

At least you can find garages that will sell SUL. Over the past 3 years the number of garages in a 10 mile radius of me that sells the stuff has dropped from 10 or so down to 1. So there goes my idea of an STi 6.

You'll love this then. I out in Atlanta at the moment. The guy I'm working with filled his truck (Ford F150 Lightning (about 350bhp)) this evening. He put in 20 (yes 20) gallons of premium SUL and it cost him just over $30. When I told him if I was to do the same in the UK (assuming that I had a 20 gallon tank ) it would cost me well over $100 he couldn't believe it.

Thumbs up

Hey Chris, whilst in Atlanta, go have a play at the Malibu Grand prix on I-85, it's a right good giggle.

Go out to lake lanier and hire a speedboat, dead cheeap and some great views. Then if you really fancy a top evenings entertainment there is a 1/4 mile oval Nascar track right oposite Road Atlanta where the good ole boys race, seriously funny stuff, guaranteed some inter-team agro.

Sorry for going OT, but Atlanta is a top place.

cant remember the pricing, but the fuel i used cost twice what the hire was, if that gives you an idea. It's not a lot, i was skint when i lived in Atlanta and yet could still afford a blast round the lake.

I am not talking UK spec alton towers type boats either, proper, large water speed boats.

If there is a big group of you, you can hire a pontoon boat and have one hell of a great party out on the lake all night, just wear a life jacket, as alchohol and boats dont mix if your having a really good time

Oh, and dont drink and drive a power boat, it's the easiest way to kill yourself. 2 baseball players died when i was there on lake lanier because they were drunk in charge of one of the power boats.

Wink

Thanks John

I have got to do some work while I'm out here ( ), but if I get chance I'll see if I can make it to some of the places you've mentioned as I'm not far from I85.

Cheers

Another good place is stone mountain, get on top of there, fantastic views. It's the highest point in georgia and looks a little like ayers rock in australia. Dont do what one guy did whilst i lived there, fly a kite on top of stone mountain in a thunder storm! I aint kidding, he really wasn't the brightest of chaps. Note the wasn't LOL

Oh yeh, finally, go eat at hooters one night, top food and the service is excellent

Back to the subject at hand

Q8 garages are always more expensive for SUL than anywhere else - generally 10-15p/l more expensive. I avoid them now, particularly as there's an Esso opposite a Shell garage in Trumpington, i.e. south side of Cambridge Nothing like a good bit of rivalry for bringing the prices down a bit...

Chrisl,

If you want to upset someone in Atlanta, try to order a Pepsi-Cola

Hooters ? Not sure about top food at all but the tops are just fine

I'm always puzzled by peoples US vs UK price petrol comparisons but you seem to be about right.

(Uhmm, 20 US gallons is 16.65 Uk gallons. This is 75.7 litres, which translates into £64.3 for 85 pence SUL ($90) or £60 for 79 pence NUL ($84). Pretty close.)

The thing which I am not sure about is whether it is SUL as we know it. It is harder to get high octane fuel in the US. I am sure that standard fuel is 82 RON or something silly like that. So SUL in the US maybe no more than 90 RON - which wouldnt run a Scooby.

Also, I think the Georgia is one of the cheaper states for fuel. California is something like just under half the price of UK fuel last time I checked.

Still, I wouldnt complain if the fuel was half price.

I stopped at this Q8 garage the other day. Its on the A10 between Royston and Bassingbourne. I needed to fill up but only put a tenner in as they wanted 98p a litre for super.I made a point of telling the cashier he was a theevin bastad. He told me to fack off!

Bright Kar,

US gas isn't all that bad, remember they use a different method calculating octane, they use MON + RON /2

on average MON is 10 points lower than RON for the same fuel, I say average because it is a different way of measuring octane and for two fuels with the same RON the MON can differ by quiet a bit.

Regular gas is I believe about 87-90 octane in the US which puts it about 93-95RON, and Sunonco do a 94 octane fuel which is about 99RON out of the pump. hard to compare exactly obviously as the actual RON cannot be told just from the US Octane no.

right now 87 Octane is about $1.60/US Gallon, 92 about $1.80. That's expensive when you consider I bought a tank for $1.01/gallon only 18 months ago,(here in LA) and "normally" you'd see it for around $1.20.

As the exchange rate is really low right now (about $1.42/£) that makes the US vs.UK comparison more equal, however if prices here (USA) drop back a little as they should and the exchange rate reverses then you'll see huge disparities again, where 20 US costs us about $24 it will cost you about $102 at current UK prices.

And to think the Yanks complain about "Gas" prices!
